Whats up Guys, I wanted to share this little video I made shooting the Savage 110BA 338 Lapua at a distance of 2707 yards. I was using 300gr Berger bullets traveling at 2740 FPS. This shot required about 35 mils of hold over, with the nightforce NXS I was able to dial 27.5 mils, back the magnification off to 13X and use the bottom of the 5 mil reticle. With a flight time of just over 5 seconds it comes in pounding with 740ft-lbs of energy at 1.54mi away. Let me know if you enjoyed the video, thanks!

Very cool video and nice shooting. I have to assume that is your property? What was your furtherest shot prior to this? How long have you been shooting at such distances?

Thanks, and yes this is on private property. Before this my furthest shot was 2530 yards, before that it was 2060 yards. I've had this rifle for a year now, before that I used to try to shoot long distance with the mosin nagant.

I don't regret the time I spent watching your video. I'd love to be able to shoot at unlimited distances.

Thanks for sharing!

Would love to have that type of play ground available. Looking for any new friends lol?

Awesome video!

That freeze-frame of the bullet in flight really shows how bullets dont always point in the direction of travel like we think they do. That increased frontal area (and thus air-resistance) when the bullet is falling sideways through the air results in a huge amount of drop.

Science!

Very nice shooting! Nice video too. I'd love to have that much open country to practice long range shooting. I'd like to find out just how hard it is. If you went from shooting a MN to shooting like that in a year it's going to be exceptional what you can do in another year. It's already exceptional really. But you may be doing stuff none of us has seen before.

I learned a lot from a guy who always said that if you could see it you could shoot it. I don't think he could have seen that target though. Not at that distance. But you proved him right IMO. He was a sniper in WWII BTW. It gives me hope that someday I'll learn to shoot like that if I can find a place to do it. I may have to move to Antarctica to find enough open ground to do it though.
