Only the courts have the authority to determine whether laws are Constitutional or not, not county governments.

And yes, it’s understood that ‘Second Amendment sanctuary county’ is about the politics of firearm regulatory policy, not the law – but this sort of nonsense nonetheless reflects poorly on the gun-owning community, and those who work in earnest to protect our rights and protected liberties pursuant to Second Amendment case law.

in the case of Virginia, the State Police will do the prosecutor's bidding, bypassing the county sheriff and local police.

in those states the government is releasing criminals that disappear in the masses only to reappear when they rape and murder again. Joe Schmuckatelli gets released and goes back home to his job et cetera where he is easily picked up by the state cops.

The sanctuaries may be a PR move but do not give you any protection legally and have risks if you come to light. There was just a recent brouhaha in NY (which turned out to be perhaps nothing) of a cop SWATTed by an Ex for 30 round mags by an ex and his own social postings.

When you get to the point of sanctuary actions, you have lost the bigger battle with your current strategy and you have become like an isolated Japanese garrison in the Pacific. You have been passed by with useless guns and waiting for something bad.

There was Federal legislation suggested to void bans. It went NOWHERE. Not on GOP agenda to fight for. Waiting for SCOTUS, yep, keep waiting for the golden moment.

You need to rethink strategy as I said you will lose the battle of attrition. I know folks disagree that it can be done. However, we have seen great cultural attitude changes towards race, women's rights, smoking, sexual orientation, etc. Are gun rights the only folks who can't reach out? If so, it's just a matter of time. Yes, you can have your guns and mags on the down low but so what? Useless except for the civilization collapse.

vote for the right people next time around. the republicans and conservatives (not always the same) in Virginia let seats go uncontested. adding to that only about 1/3 of eligible voters vote, add to that only 10% of the gun owners in Virginia belong to the VCDL.... add to that all the bar stool complainers that didn't vote because … [no excuse is valid for not voting]…. I imagine this is repeated across the nation as apathetic gun owners allow red states to turn blue.

Our county will vote on a 2nd amendment sanctuary resolution next week. The sheriff's dept supports it. They have enough bad guys to take care of without going after neighbors, friends, and family that will become felons with a stroke of the governors pen. The same law abiding citizens that put them in office are the ones that will be affected by sweeping anti gun legislation. Cops are required to make decisions every day concerning what laws to enforce and busting the preacher and the firechief for trading shotguns without a background check is not exactly a wise career move. If I were to guess I'd say that the purposed Virginia laws will probably directly affect 30 to 40 percent of our counties law abiding population and I haven't talked to a trooper or a deputy yet that intends to enforce these purposed laws.
