The Rugers that correspond to a 3" K frame are those from the old 2 3/4" Six line. They carry easier than a GP and are faster in the hand. They have a more simple lockwork and the triggers tend to be smoother and not quite as heavy. This is a Speed Six:
Th S&W K frames are great .38 guns. But, the GP100 3" is the one you want when shooting .357 magnums. The design of the gun helps it to be more durable and reliable than the S&W's.
S&W makes great guns!!!! Not flaming. But the k frames are NOT for extensive .357 magnum use.
