3 inch revolvers - I admit I am sick and powerless to control my weakness

Trebor, what are the grips on the 65? Me likes.

I'm not sure. They came with another used 65 I bought and I put them on this gun.

I can't remember if they are marked inside. Next time I have them off I'll check.

They are great grips, btw. The fill the space behind the trigger guard well so they are pretty comfortable. They are hard plastic so they do
Check Brownells Nylon grips, Mr Camp swears by them.

Lucky son of a ...I couldn't find a 3" GP100 for the life of me when I was looking. I ended up with a 4" in a purdy yellow box but the search continues.

Setzer77:
Love the gun/grip combo ECS. I know some people think the grips are hideous, but that combo reeks of practicality. If ever there was a "tactical" revolver, that would be it.

At least it's not tacticool! The grips shroud the hammer so it can't hang up or wear out the inside of my vests/jackets. It also fairs the recoil shield so it doesn't grab anything on the way out. The full three finger grip lets me control full-house magnum ammunition without beating me to death. It also makes friends at the range and gun shows when people ask, "What is that?"

Elm Creek Smith: I have not seen those Bianchi Lightning grips in a long time. Nice !
Im sure I have some in a box somewhere....Instant hammerless. I recall them for J/K frame RB and Colt 1911, back in the day.

I've never seen the J frame grips, but a friend of mine swears by his 1911 grips. I found a box on a guy's table at a gun show, but the grips weren't in it! After looking through more boxes, he found these and allowed he'd have to have $15.00 for them. Before he could change his mind, the grips and I (including the right box) were gone and three $5.00 bills were floating softly down on his table!

I will try to post a pic of my 3" GP100 with adjustable sights; a rare bird.

My latest 3" revolver is a 3.06" SP101, into which I dropped a spurless hammer I had been saving for several years for just this purpose.

I bought my 3" gp100 sight unseen. Just ordered thru a dealer and had it in less than a week. It has a very smooth trigger. Its a night stand gun.

Then you'll hate me more for what I paid for it. I picked it up a few weeks ago for $250.00.

Frankly I rather have a blued Speed Six. But at that price I just couldn't let it go.

This one is both a 3 inch revolver and a five shot 44 Spl.

My Taurus M431 shoots to point of aim with 200 grain bullets, is quite accurate, and has an excellent trigger pull.

Elm Creek Smith: The J-frame lightning grips that I have resided on a family members adj. sight Model 60. I removed them during cleaning and found some discoloration on the metal. Since I had given him the lightning grips years ago, I placed the factory wood back on the 60 for its own protection. The owner is not much on cleaning, it simply wont happen unless I do it. They are marked pachmayr on the bottom and seem to have a chocolate brown color to them.

While eyeing revolvers lately at one of my favorite gun shops here I saw a real beauty of a semi custom Ruger Security Six. It was a very odd one that I had never seen before, for one thing, .38spl ONLY, and it is a 3in! Beautiful blue job unlike any stock SS I have seen as in like early Python Royal blue, and it has a very nice set of Ivory grips on it which don't look pimp at all like I would have thought they would have if someone told me about it before I saw it. They want $399.99 which may make me take it home especially since it is used and they will haggle somewhat.

I prefer the 2 1/2 and 3 inch bbl's on the revolvers I carry in the field .Here you have to be quick out of a holster and the longer bbl's are too cumbersome in my opinion.I carry a 629-4 3inch almost all the time (although lately I have be carrying my 4 inch .500 S&W) anyone who has been out here on Kenai knows bears close a lot of ground and fast.

A 3 inch is easy to carry and doesn't weigh ya down.Fast clearance from a holster..What could be better.Leave the longer bbl's for hunting or targets..For personal protection in the field a 3 inch suits me fine..

Oh and CH47gunner Very nice 624!!

I come up a little short. My favorite is my blued 2 3/4" Speed Six. It is ..38 only, I wish it was .357, I would like to shoot both.

I have a 6" and a 4" I think I need a 3".

I admit it I have an addiction to handguns. All sorts of handguns.

Pretty much the gun I had dreamed-up in my head back in the day when the only flavors of Model 60 were blue, nickel, and stainless.

All with fixed sights and only in .38 Special.

This one is 3" barrel, adjustable sights, .357 magnum.
The grip is not easy on the eyes, but my goodness it is easy on the hand, and the rubber is not to "grippy" such that it does not grab my clothes.

Fits nicely in the S&W holster (sourced from DeSantis).
Serrated front sight is doing its best to tear up the inside of the holster though.
I don't carry this gun a whole lot, so I really don't care.

My 3" M65 is probably my favorite of all the guns I own, although I've added a 3" "Ladysmith" M65 that's giving this one a run for its money. They are both currently wearing Pachmayr grips. I love the look of wood grips, especially these Badgers, but the rubbers really feel great, too.
