Do it all the time.

.30-06, .308, 8mm Mauser, .30-30, 7.62x39, .223, .45-70, and .32 Remington. Are you having trouble setting your 550 up?

Gewehr98:I bought another 550 last week was just curious. Was not sure how much trouble it would be,I"ll give it a try with .223 first.I"v bought a lot of guns&parts over in your neck of the woods.Do you know a deputy by the name of John Landis?

I load both 30-06 and 223 in my 550B; works great.

Some longer stick/extruded powders don't meter well in the Dillon powder measure. For 30-06 (bolt) I now only use H4350 with very good results. In 223, IMR 4198 meters very poorly (+- 1.5gr), get good results with WW748, H322 and Vhit N133.

I load both .223 and .308 on my RL550B. BLC-2 meters pretty good through it, IMR-4064 does not.

Stee smith says you can slightly ream the charge bar and get better metering results. I gotta get with him on that and try it.

Generally speaking, go for it. If your loads are life or death loads you might want to single stage them for confidence sake. I did pull the sizer/decapper out of the 550 and size on my rockchucker so I can clean primer pockets and trim the brass.

Hi Guys
I load 223,308 & 30-06 on my 550 but with a little twist. I resize, deprime on an RCBS Partner press then they go on my dillon after I tumble to clean. I have an RCBS uniflow measure set up for my rifle powder
(Varget) that takes the place of my dillon measure. I know it's an extra step but I like the extra control. I have narrowed my rifle powder down to Varget for all my rifles. I can be called either Frugel or a tight a$$
This is my first post here I was a longtime menber ot the TFL , I hope this place lives up.

I'm reloading 30-06, 308 and 223 on my RL550.

For powders I'm using IMR4895 in 30-06 and 308, Varget in 308 and 223, and 2230-C in 223.

For Varget and 4895 - Don't forget to tap the powder dispenser once on the upside and once on the downside.

Loading 30-06 on the 550 is.. well.. let's just say it's a financial commitment.. bring your checkbook... However, if you own a couple of Garands and like to shoot them a lot, like in Hi-Power matches and John C Garand matches (they supply the match ammo), a prograesive reloading press like the 550 is the only way to go.

I get most of my 30-06 components from gibrass, weidners, hi-tech, and places like that. I guess I've pumped more that 5000 rounds of 30-06 through my 550.
