I am fielding a Remington 760 in 30-06 this weekend for opening weekend deer. The last several years have been split between a 6.5x55 and a .243 and before that a .270. But I got tired of worrying all the time about messing up my nice rifles so I bought a Remingto 760 from 1965 in 30-06 out of a pawn shop. I put a Leopold 3x9 on it. Perfect field gun.

My only experience with a 30-06 is with one of the field guns on the family farm. It is a mid seventies model 70 that I have shot only a few times and never set it up. But they keep 150 grain Core Lokts zeroed at 200.

I screwed up my set up last night as I was sighting it in at the indoor tube. I started out with a lot of problems with the old Weaver mounts and by the time I replaced them my time was up. Fortunately the employee got me back in just before closing(nice guys at Bass Pro) and with 6 bullets and 5 minutes I had it sighted in with 180 grain Core Lokts zeroed at 100 yards.

With rain all day today and tomorrow that is what I am going with.

So, to my question, I am trying to find trajectory patterns for that setup online but surprisingly have had no luck. My shot will probably be in the 175 to 250 range unless I get lucky. So I come to THR for help. Can anyone provide me with that info or point me in the right direction?

Appreciate all responses.

That would be perfect but for whatever reason they do not include the Core Lokts in that comparison, only the premiere CoreLokts. I looked up the CoreLokts on that sight and found the 200 zeroed data but could not find the 100. Comparing the regular to the Premier at 200 it appears the regular core lokts have a more dramatic drop off.

Remington Express is what they call their generic core-lockt ammo

Take a look at the top under the Remington Express ammo and it list the Core Lokts as the bullet used. I assume that is what you shooting, the cheaper green and yellow express ammo. If not maybe a picture or link to what you are shooting might help.

Yep. I see it now.

10.3 inch drop at 250 yards. Thats heavy.

After this weekend I am going to get some 150 grain and sight it in for 200 yards. I would go do it right now but its raining and all of the indoors are booked. This is what I get for screwing around until the last second with a 'new' gun.

Thanks again.

There are 2 different 180 grain Remington express corelokts. Pointed and roundnose.
That 10.3 inch drop at 250 yards number is for the roundnose, with a 100 yard zero. You might have the roundnose bullet, or not, but you don't have to use a 100 yard zero.

180 grain corelokt zeroed at 100 will drop 12" at 250.
That's with a 0.5" sight height. He has a scope.
The 180 pointed corelokt, sighted in at 200, would be less than 4" low at 250.

For my '06, with 150-grain handloads going about 3,000, I sighted in for two inches high at 100. That's right at dead on at 200.

Roughly, six inches low at 300 and call it two feet low at 400. With that zero, I sorta checked the trajectory for 500 and sure enough, I had to hold four feet high to center punch the plate.

I am glad you pointed that out(no pun in intended. These are pointed. So it is -8.8 at 250. Still a pretty good drop.

The 100 yard zero was by accident and will be only for this weekend.

Zero at 185 yards. This will give a 1.5" high at 100yds, 2.1" low at 225yds so effectively this means no holdover from 0 to 225yds. Just remember that at 250yds to hol over by 4.0"

Google MPBR Maximum Point Blank Range, this is what I have approximated out to 225yds.

MPBR out to 250 yds with no holdover would mean a zero at 215yds and 2.4" high at 125yds and 2.3" low at 250yds.
