30/30 bullets work in other .30 cal. rifles?

Is it worthwhile to reload Sierra 30/30 bullets in other .30 cal. rifles that shoot .308 diameter? They were sold as 30/30 copper jacketed w/ flat nose, but they are on my shelf.

They can certainly be used in other .308 rifles but you do need to respect the velocity range that they were designed for.

I have loaded 170's in 308 and tried to keep the velocity down by using 307 data. I took a couple deer with them, and the deer would drop dead, the bulllets would disentigrate. Lots of jacket particles and peices of lead around the wound. If you are using them on game i strongly suggest you not use them and use a more sturdy bullet.

OK to load. Just keep to 30/30 velocities.

I've heard of X39 loaders useing the 150gr flat-points for deer. better slugs now though.

Thanks, I'll stick to shooting paper when loading these in other rifles and within 30/30 bullet recommended loads.
