HI is there a such thing as a 30-30 handgun? A co-worker told me he went to the range and the guy next to him had a large revolver and he told him it shoots a 30-30.

Google is your friend.

I had to do some upper-body training, but I now have ....

Lone Eagle .30-06, 16" overall. Lone Eagle .444 Marlin, 16", w brake and flash-diverter, and TC in .22 lr, .357 mag, and .44 mag. Single shots, yes, but excellent hand-guns, good for 500 yds with good scopes. Currently wearing Leupold fixed 4x, and BSA 3~9 zoom, all in iron scope-mounts.

+1 Lubeck, great movie.

I know a guy who received one of these as a wedding present from his bride. Lucky man eh?

Too heavy, I gave away my Ruger Redhawk 44 mag w/scope due to weight. Gave it to a family member.

Lone eagle is gone but the new company is competition or competitive arms. Also T/C has the old contenders and the G2 or more powerful encore

uh...ok not sure why they wanted to put a 30-30 into a revolver. Probably just to see what would happen.

I would think that some of the larger revolver calibers .454 .480 .500 would actually be superior to the 30-30 in a revolver, heck maybe even the .44 mag too.

I haven't shot a BFR in 30-30 but i did shoot one in .450 Marlin. I can tell you this, that is one heck of a recoil even from a big heavy revolver like the BFR. It was a hoot to shoot though!! LOL

(For those who don't know, the .450 Marlin is basically a modern 45-70 which is loaded to pressures that can be shot in modern rifles. The SAAMI pressure limit for the .450 Marlin is 43,500 PSI while the 45-70 Government is 28,000 PSI)

I had a 30-30 Thompson Contender.

Felt like I was slamming a car door on my hand every time I fired it.

That's strange. I shot a box of Rem. 150 gr. .30-30s for a fellow who was fire-forming a pile of them in his .30-30 Improved Contender barrel. Those factory loads were making a detergent bottle cap dance at 200m off a rest.

I remember being amazed at the LACK of significant recoil. Maybe he had different grips on it or something. I can't recall any, though.

As stated above the only thing I have seen chambered in 30-30 as far as handguns go are Thompsons. I have seen them in 45-70 gov't as well but I can never find one. Today I saw a Ruger Blackhawk chambered in .30 carbine?? Anyone else heard of that?

You can get the 30-30 cartridge in several different single-shot specialty handguns.
In some actions you can put just about any bottleneck cartridge one can use in a rifle in a specialty handgun.

My TC contender in .30-30 with full power loads shooting a 150 grain Nosler BT at 2100 fps from a 12" hunter barrel kicks less than my M10 shooting wadcutter. It has a machined in compensator. Now, I'm not going to mention noise. I carry my muffs when I'm hunting with it.

My TC tender with the super 14 in 30-30 is going to be my deer getter this year. I havent started to load for it yet but with some Winchester factory 150's it is shear pleasur to shoot. And with the limited shooting ive done with it I have been able to shoot some nice groups.

I've heard of them and they are not as uncommon as you might think. If you reload you can load the ammo with a 110gr bullet and H110 powder.

Heard of it. Got one. Load all kinds of light .308 bullets -- especially HPs.

Quite a muzzle blast, but not much recoil.
