30 cal Sabots

I just bought an 50 cal Encore and want to play around with it . What I am looking for are sabots so I can try some 30 cal bullets . I can't find them anyplace , someone has to make them . Anyone know who .

I've seen .50 to .45, and .30 to .22, but not .50 to .30

I'm not sure they are even made . I was just thinking it would be fun to play with if someone did make them .

Get a .308 (30-06) barrel and load the cartridges with black powder. Or, have SKS build you a .32 BP barrel.



What is the twist rate on an Encore .50?

PS: I tried x patched (home made sabot) .30 cal bullets in a .32 and they all key holed at short ranges.

I've heard of people using sabot stacks. .50 to .45, then a .45 to .40, then a .40 to .30, then maybe even a .30 to .22.

The results have always been incredibly bad.

I would think so . Thats something I wouldn't have thought of , or do . Sounds kind of unsafe .

I was asking about this with a long time shooter. He said the bullet and sabot combo for such a big difference would be too light and just wrong for the rifling twist rate to properly spin up the bullet for stability.

Likely this is why the experimenting with doubled sabots didn't work out.
