Trying to load up some 110g varmageddon in 300 aac.
I have some 5744 but there is only published data for 125g with 5744. Max load being 19.4g

Im wondering if I loaded 110g bullet with 20g of 5744 to a oal of 2.060 I should be fine right? Seems like there should be no issue. Just want to get opions on the idea.

Also, this is for a bolt gun.

Loading 115gr bullets for 300BLK

The Nosler Reloading guide has limited info on loading the 300BLK, which covers 110 gr through 140 gr using IMR 4227, h110, w296, and Lil'Gun powders.

Hodgdon website gives 300BLK loading infor usning only H110 in bullet weights from 115 gr through 220gr. Those have been the only ones published other than some home-brew that I can find.

Will 20 grams of powder even fit in the case? Sorry I couldn't resist. Sierra has some load data for their 110 gr bullets that should work for you. They usually make you buy the manual but the 300 blk data is available on their website (just do a Google search).

As for length, I've found that an AR magazine doesn' t leave too much room to play. And I do put a crimp on mine with the Lee FCD.

I checked out sierras site, and couldnt find any info on 110gn using 5744. The only published data for 5744 I can find anywhere is for a 125gn. Thats why im thinking I can probably just cram as much powder in the case as possible and see how it does. Max load for the 125gn was 19.4gn of 5744. Im can only fit 20gn under a 110, so I have gone over max by .6gn and lightened the bullet 15gn.

To be safe, i would reduce the maximum load by 10% , then work up as always. Start with 17.5 gr of 5744 with 5 rounds. Your using a bolt action, so you dont have to worry about port pressure working an AR15 semi auto action. Make sure the 300 aac loaded rounds neck diameter is not larger than .334" If you made the brass from 223/5.56 brass.

It looks like 5744 is too slow burning for optimal performance with the lighter bullets. You can try it out by all means, but it just won't be ideal.
