I met a guy at the range who had one on a hog gun wither thermal. He swore by it. Said it was devastating. He let me shoot it once. Recoil was a lot like my 6.5 Grendel. I really like the look of the case. If barrels and dies we're cheaper and more readily available and I wasn't already committed to black out I would do the hammer over the blackout. For supersonic loads it outperforms blackout in every way, but I'm not sure it offers much the 6.8 or 6.5 cannot do.
Big fan here-had an “extra” 300 blackout so converted to this as another hog rifle option.
I’ve not had chance to try on a hog yet, but I’m getting 200# more energy out of this versus the handload I’m using on the 300 blackout 110 tac tx (getting 1690 on hamr and 1411 on tac tx that’s loaded to max that Barnes suggests).
On side note, got to use 338 federal on 3 hogs this week and it was devastating... what a great hog round
When I first read about the 300 HAM'R I expected it to be another me-too, waste-of-time round but the more I read the more impressed I was! The .300 Blackout is awesome for suppressed use but if you're not looking for subsonic suppressed it seems like the 300 HAM'R is a lot better round. I could see it being a pretty good HD/CQB round as well.
I own a 300 Hamr AR-15 and I really like it. Accuracy is good, recoil is very light. CFE BLK is the powder to use in it. My dad is actually deer hunting with it as I type. He hasn't pulled the trigger on anything yet.
