Hopefully someone can spot me an answer tonight ,But I am wondering if $329.00 is a good price for a older (but in nice shape) bolt action Savage 300 I have a Savage 300 in lever action ,but have always wanted the bolt action version finally found one ,just wondering if the price is right ???

What's the model of the rifle? Remington, Winchester, Savage?

Is it a Savage (brand) rifle chambered in .300 Win Mag or is it a rifle chambered in ".300 Savage caliber"?

Great cartridge, mine is a Remington 760 chambered for .300 Sav.

$329 seems reasonable if it's in good shape. May be able to get it a bit cheaper since it is harder to find factory ammo for it. That's always a good bargaining tactic even if you reload like I do.

The .300 Savage was the .7.62 NATO /.308 Winchester before anyone knew it was.

Great old cartridge!

It is the rifle manufactured by Savage, and chambered for the 300 Savage cartridge
You will have to be more specific then that to set a price on it.

Savage has made a host of different bolt-actions chambered in .300 Savage through the years.

One more question hopefully someone here is familiar with the Savage Arms version of the bolt action 300Savage rifle ,is there any thing in particular I should check or inspect on this rifle ,I am taking my bore light to check that ,but is there anything else I need to check ?
Much thanks to everyone here for their input by the way this is a rifle I have been looking for ,for many years

300 Savage runs about 200-300fps behind the 308, I think handloads max out just over 40gr of powder where as I load 308 up to 52.5gr. 300 Savage is no hot round but I don't think any deer will complain much because that is still around 200-300fps faster then a 30-30 in similar weights.

update

I will probely kick myself for years to come ..But I didn't buy the rifle I set over a cup of coffee this morning weighing if it was a "Need" or a "Want" ,I just couldn't justify spending the money to satify a "Want" so someone went home with it instead of me. :banghead:

Don't beat yourself up over it....

Your Savage lever-action in .300 Savage is on my cool-to-own-but-cant-find-a-need-beyond-a-want list. (Also on that list is a Remington 81 in .300 Savage.)

Carl I have a model 99 Savage in 300Savage and it's the gold trigger which I have been told was the centennial model. I was just being greedy and wanted the bolt action version too
