Ok, I appreciate everyone's input so far. It's really helped me narrow things down. Since I'm new to hunting rifles, I appreciate the experience you all have as to makes and models of the past 20 years that can still be had at a decent price.
Here are my criteria:
- Under $600 new or used
- chambered in .308
- under 41" overall length
- bolt action
- iron sights
Anything else goes, that's all I require. I know about the Savage Hog Hunter, the Mossberg MVP, and the Rem 700 offerings, but what else would fit this criteria that I'm missing?
