set up at 310 yards yesterday with the 6.5 Grendel Ruger American Ranch

I had it loaded with Hornady ELD-M 123 gr, the Sig Sauer whiskey 3 2-7x32 scope has a standard hunting duplex retical in it and I was shooting at this Caldwell 5" 500AR plate

Water Plant Font Gas Road surface

the rifle was zeroed for 100 yards and I had no ideal where it would hit, holding dead on the first shot hit there Iin the bottom right hand corner, 2cnd shot I used the point of the bottom arrow of the duplex for an aiming point, (2 and blue dot to the right of the plate)

I then using the bottom arrow of the duplex and aiming where my finger is at I hit the plate with my 3rd shot, I fired 4 more hitting the plate 3x and missing just off the right side once

it may not be great shooting but I'm happy with my results,
16"barrel
7x scope
310 yards on a 5" target while dealing with a 25" bullet drop and a fairly steady 5mph cross wind

Hey, great shooting! Ruger's American Ranch is pure delight in any caliber. Some kind of magic. I've seen most of the action with them chambered in 7.62x39, but I really like 6.5 Grendel. Very nice.

Good shooting. It's good to see that it shoots that well. I have a ruger ranch in x39 that I've had out to 400 and I like it alot. Unfortunately, I can't get the ammo it likes any more and have 2k rounds left. When that's gone, I'm going to either the Grendel or a 300 BO.

Even the 7.62x39 is good at 300 if the rifle shoots good, last time out with another forum member at his local 300 yard range I was hitting a about 5"x10" steel plate ever shot. I was actually surprised there didn't seem to be much drop since I was sighted in about 2 or 3" high at 100 yards using tula jhp.

Mine hasn't had but a few factory ammo in it.
With common x39 powders I use , it shoots plenty good enough for its deer killing range which "I have set " at 150 .
When I use CFE BLACK at max with any of the four bullets I use it's outstanding. Less than max its just ok.Two inches at 150yds is sure outstanding for a cheep fun rifle.
Super low mounted Hawke illuminated 2X7 is also outstanding.
The purchase price new was outstanding.

You are doing just fine. And it looks as though you have a great shooting set up, and no doubt, it is a lot of fun to hear the whang of the bullet on the target!

The more fun, the more shots downrange. I am all about having fun at the range.
