Hi Guys,
I'm at my happy place! :) I just got back from the range and these are my 200 yd groups. The load is a 225 gr Hornady SST bullet, 50.5 gr Varget powder and CCI 200 Primers in Winchester brass. The velocity is 2500 fps. It gives me 1900 lbs of energy at 300 yds.
These groups were done from the bench with a 2.75X scope.
The group to the left were the first ones, I moved 1 click right and shot the second group.

Elk...... watch out!!!!!

Cajun,

Awesome!! I am getting my Ruger 77 rebarreled to 338-06 also, and am looking forward to get some loads worked out for it. Looks like you are ready to good to go for chasing them elkies!

I was thinking of starting with the 210 Nosler partion, and see what I can work up. Hope I can hit the sweet spot like you did.

Did you fire-form your brass after resizing it?

JohnDog,
Nope I just resize, load and shoot. The dies are from Lee. I started out with Military match brass then switched to Winchester. I worked up to max with both and settled back down to where I'm at now. I hope to get a little more case life than my experimental loads. I just threw out 50 pieces of brass that only had 2-3 loads in them.
I picked the bullets before the rifle was even built. I feel the 225 is right in the middle and it just what I'm looking for. I'll most likely switch to the new 225 Hornady bonded bullets when they come out sometime this year. They have the same BC as the SST's.

good luck
