Haven’t had this out much, but pulled it for a going over in the Great Corona Cleanup. Bought it from a guy up north of Denver a couple of years ago. It apparently started life as a Harrington & Richardson 30-30 ejector and was re-chambered and re-bored to 35 Krag at some point. H&R used chemical case coloring and the receiver has faded to a sort of mottled straw color. The ejector is sticky and I’ve had a go at it in the past but should try again. Kind of cool stock configuration.

Shoots okay as I recall, no MOA rifle this one. Got some hand load notes with the rifle and I’ve put about 60 - 75 rounds through it. It’s basically in between 358 Winchester and 35 Whelen. Likes Sierra 225 grs soft points. Came with a bag of massive flat nose 260 grs cast bullets that I have yet to try out. May get on that as well.

Definitely out of the mainstream, but in a very cool way. I assume you just have to neck up 30 Krag brass as is or is there more to it like trimming ? I've always been fascinated by oddball wildcats. IIRC the 35 Krag originated as a solution to give new life to old 30-40 Krag rifles with worn bores (?).

Correct. Nothing but 30-40 necked to 35 cal. DIes from Lee. 35 Krag must have been among the earliest smokeless wildcats.

Really hate you now. I'm on GB looking at Siamese Mausers...

Do you think the bolt face can be opened enough for the 348 rim?

Oh. And did I mention I hate you?
Yup it can I've shot a few, 8mm-348 is very fun if you want to keep the barrel. Dad built one in 450 Alaskan for his cousin up in Alaska. I've had this one since I was 10. Like to make a flatter shooting twin for it.

Lol seen some rifles going for 500-600 some time back, be nice just to find a action tho. I think my 375 build will come first but I'm always looking for a action.

A good action may now go for $500. Last one I bought, I bought from a friend that was a restoration smith, specializing in restoring high grade LC Smith SxS guns. I paid a bit higher price than the then going mark, for it as it had been altered for the 45-70 to feed properly and with the side holes welded before I started with the other action modifications and was near ready for a barrel and bluing. It made a real nice Express rifle when finished. I really like the NECG express leaf rear and hooded ramp front sights. When registered properly they flip up, dead on, as they should for the load as used. You must cut the rear notches when you sight in to register the rifle/sights.
