.35 Remington

I have a T/C Contender with a 14” Magna-Ported barrel, chambered for the .35 Remington. I’ve been using the factory 150 gr. Remington Core-Lokt pointed soft point bullets. I love those bullets. Very accurate (consistent under 1” groups at 50 yds.) and the recoil is manageable . I now have a s-load of brass and was considering reloading. Wouldn’t you know, Remington doesn’t make the 150 gr. Core-Lokt PSP as a reloading component:banghead:. The closest I could find was the Hornady Interlock 180 gr. Spire point. As I said above, the recoil with the 150 gr. bullets is manageable. My concern is that if I increase to the 180 gr. bullets, it won’t be as fun to shoot because of the increase in felt recoil. Any thoughts?

I use the 180gr Hornady Interlock single shot pistol bullets in my 10" Contender in 357 Maximum. Speer has the 180gr Hot-Cor FN too.
I know Hornady makes a fairly new 140gr Flex-tip bullet for 357 magnum in lever rifles. That might be something to look at.
There are a bunch of 140-158gr pistol bullets to try if you are so inclined. Lots of choices.

I also shoot a Mag-Na-Ported 14" Contender in .35 Remington, and I really like the 180 grain Hornady .358 Single Shot Pistol Bullet, Hornady #3505, with a near max load of Hodgdon H322 for about 2150 fps.

Deer and Hogs absolutely hate them .

Another vote for the Hornady 180gr pistol bullet, I shoot them out of my 14" 357 Herrett. 158gr soft points work well also but the penetration is better with the 180gr Hornadys.

If you get a Lyman medium 35 cal "M" die you can flare the case necks and load 35 caliber cast pistol bullets for cheap practice. The Lyman cast bullet handbook has load data for the 35 Rem.

I do not care for recoil. The .308 is my cut off caliber. I shoot Speer 180's in the .35 Remington and do not find the recoil bothersome. Of course, a rifle is a little different.
