What should i get? Ill be selling a mini 30 tomarrow for about this much.

I have an AR, that fills the precision rifle/EBR/Cheap intermediate cartridge.
I have a pump shotgun, would be open to an auto one. I have a semi auto .22
Im looking at lever guns, though. Id like a 45-70 marlin. But they can be a tad expensive to shoot, but good fun.

Seriously, i dont know what to get, i could get a sks, and night vision also. Help me spend my money, im open to all suggestions.

How are you fixed on Handguns? Do you CCW ? Do you have multiples of the same CCW?

I believe in having duplicates of CCWs. The theory is to have at least 4.
One off site. One for backup -either as BUG or if one has to be fixed and spends time in gunshop or to mfg. Hopefully one does not get into a shooting - if one does, rest assured that gun will taken in and kept for a bit.

Naturally this extends to holsters, mags, speedloaders...

Do you have a good rimfire? If not, check out the CZ range, in .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR. They're more expensive than most rimfire rifles out there, but their quality is HUGELY better, and they're very satisfactorily accurate as well. Highly recommended as a gun with great "fun" potential, and also accurate enough to serve as an excellent practice vehicle for your centerfire weapons. See here for more details. They can usually be obtained for at least 25% less than CZ's MSRP, which drops them into your financial range.

Hmmmmmm

I'm lost on this one - just about everything i look at is more than 300 bucks. :)

Hmmmm

Shotguns can be had for under that amount... heck - my pump cost me a whole 160 bucks or so. Not gonna say its top of the line - but its blown through every round i've thrown at it w/o a problem. Personally - got a bias against semi-auto shotguns. I'm sure many work just fine - but my only experience w/ one has burned me. (its effectively a single shot) (have one of those too! single shot break shotgun - looking online - its about a 100$ gun... :) )

Rifle wise... my 10/22 was under that amount... Jams on the cheaper stuff - doesn't seem to mind most CCI boxed rounds... (green/match/velocitor)

bolt/lever .22's should be in that range... i think... usually seems hard to find a lever .22 and they are usually on the spensive side... but i'm willing to bet someone makes em for not too much. Remember wally world selling some kind of lever that was around 200 or so... but they get sold quickly.

Dad gave me his marlin lever action in .45 long colt... looked it up and its around a 500 or so gun... seems they want more for the levers... don't know why =( prolly more parts/complexity involved??

Last time i looked at a bolt 220 swift they wanted 600 for it... (can't remember... Remmington?? been a while) never confirmed if that was a good price or not... but i was writing a check... then needed the cash for something else =(

Sorry - seems i've very lil in the suggestion range... that or i need to find better prices on guns! <grin>

(edit - all the above i'm talking brand new... not pawnie or used...)

If you're fixed on buying now and lever guns have caught your eye, I know Big 5 always has either the Marlin or the Winchester '94's on sale for $299. Available in 30-30, .357, .44, and .45LC.

Or throw the $ into supplies for the rest of your guns or use it to start a piggy bank for something down the line.

As far as auto-shotties go how about the clip fed Saiga 12 gauge? I've heard great things about them and they're pretty cheap. Last I saw www.cdnninvestments.com had them for $200 in black or soviet camo.

You've got enough right now to have a rack grade Greek issue M1 Garand shipped to your door.

Or save up a bit more and get one of the better grade Garands.

I found a Nice marlin 1894S in .44 Magnum :) And i had to bring it home with me, for 300 bucks i couldnt go wrong!

Sweet - now if i could figure out how to get my '94 in 45LC to quit jammin up. =(

is it ammo? is it the feed? is it cleaning? is it my operation?

its lever action and unless i'm VERY precise and not even then if it was fired instead of just cycled it will jam a shell -

i HATE guns that do this. THere is no point to a "magazine" tube or otherwise if it jams up on ya....

Needless to say the only auto(pistol) i own is the HK that hasn't jamed on me once... let alone regularly.... my mini 14 will jam on the big mags - but does fine on the factory mags. 10/22 will jam on the cheap rounds and do ok on the more expensive one's. Don't have a clue on the lever action 45LC '94 tho... =(

Tharg - do you have an aftermarket (VQ or Clark) extractor in your 10/22? Have you properly broken it in with 2,000+ high velocity rounds?

Those cleared up 100% of jams/malfunctions in my 10/22. YMMV.

Well Slimjim, congratulations on your new Marlin. I've got one myself and it's a wonderfully handy carbine.
