So I have $500 that I can spend on gun stuff. :) So, what should I get.

I will give just a bit of info. I don't have an EBR unless you count my SKS. I'm good on CCW guns. I have no real target guns. My 22's consist of a Bearcat (blued) and a Remington Nylon 66. My big handguns are a SA GI 5 inch, and a CZ 75B.

My considerations thus far,

1. Under Folder AK variant
2. Stainless Ruger Single Six with both cylinders
3. Ruger 22/45 and Tac Sol upper
4. SA XD 9 Service model
5. CZ P-01
6. Remington Marine Magnum

Is there anything else I should consider that you would get?

Thanks.

PS: whatever I get, I'll get it this coming week.

Cover your basics first:

- CCW handgun (covered)
- Home defense long gun/zombie defense (covered, but could be upgraded)
- .22's (covered)
- long range rifle
- versitale shotgun

I think that if you plan to have a do it all shotgun, the Mariner won't be the best choice if you care about asthetics. To my knowledge, they only make the marinecote barrels in whatever the stock length is (20in?). If you want to buy another barrel for trap or small game hunting, it would have to be a black barrel. If that's cool with you or if you only plan on it for home defense, this would be my choice from your list.

Second choice would be the AK variant. All of the other items on your list strike me as things you want, but maybe not need right now. But it's your money, do what you want with it.

Given what you say you have, get the AK. Spend any money that remains on magazines and ammo.

The handguns aren't needed as you said. That really narrows the choices.

Unless you have a special 'marine' need, you can get a used Remi 870 Express 12 GA privately for probably around $150-200; a real workhorse of a shotgun. I got a stunning 870 Express used for $110 in '06. And I mean stunning! The wood was beautiful and the shotgun was super clean. Just a guy wanting to buy a second home and cleaning out the gunsafe.

Then I would put the other $300-350 toward an AK - you may have to save a couple more weeks but it's in your budget for an entry level AK/Saiga.

Id go with the AK, I have one, although I only shot it once, my Dad shots it all the time, Its the polish underfolder, looks pretty cool, from Andy

I guess I should have added, I already have an 870 with hunting and hd barrels along with a mag ext.

i would say either ammo for the guns that you alredy have, or a sa xd, i have 2 and i love them, they are reliable, accurate and fun as all get out to shoot, and i highly recomend them. especially in 9mm ammo is the chepest of the calibers that it comes in. i say go for the xd.

The SKS is just fine as a home SD rifle. Personally, I find seating AK mags a bit of a pain, and would rather deal with feeding 10 round stripper clips into the SKS. The GI and CZ75 are good pistols, obviously. And though the Bearcat and Nylon 66 are not formal target grade weapons, they’re just fine for informal target shooting, plinking, and squirrel killing. And you already have an excellent shotgun.

If it were me, I’d buy ammo, and lots of it. Or, if you reload, buy as many components (powder, bullets, primers) for your existing weapons as $500 will allow. With the seemingly incessant increases in ammo prices, getting your hands on as much as you can is a good idea.

Well, I had $500 limit. I almost doubled it with this little gem. :)

Thanks for all the help. I really decided that I need a good long gun. Next is going to be a dillon progressive and a couple of caliber conversions. That will have to be next month though. :)

#2. I love my Rugers. I have one in blue and one in stainless. Fun to shoot and cheap.
