Thinking about trying this Buffalobore round in my 686 2.5 inch revolver. Would my gun have any trouble stabilizing this round. One reviewer on the BB site had keyholeing with a 2.25 in SP101.

shouldn't have a problem, but there is only one way to find out in your gun.

How much higher does the 180gr impact at 5-15 yards compared to the 125 gr? Thanks.

Again....hard to know until you shoot it outta your gun.

What is the purpose of the heavy 180s outta a snubbie? BUG for bear?

Black bear protection

for black bear protection when in Northern AZ. Don't have the .44 mag anymore. From what I recall, bear load should be 200gr at 1000fps. The BB load should run 180gr at 1220 or so fps. The best I can do with the revolvers I have.

Leading of Bbl

The BB 19a round has a gas check. I fired a BB .44 mag round that did not have a gas check and it leaded up my forcing cone a bit. Lewis Lead remover did not do a very good job on it. Will the gas check on the .357 cast BB round prevent most of the leading? Thx for your expertise.

I cast 180 and 200gr bullets for my 357 Max, they are relatively long bullets and work well in 357 mag rifles, but the long bullet will tumble if shot from short barrels, 165 or 155gr work best out of my Airweight.

I bought a box and shot them from a 4" gp100 and they are hot.shot really high compared to my 158 grn swc and 2400 load that gun sighted in for.did not feel i could be very accurate with them.so decided better carry a load that im comfortable and familliar with for field carry.Jim

I know it is different ammo than you are talking about but both my 2 1/2" model 19 and my 3" 340pd stabilize the carbon 200gn HC , they state a speed of 1150 fps. As a matter of fact the little j frame ultra light 340 is extremely accurate with this load. I have not shot them past 25 yards but there was no key holing at that distance. I don't know if Carbon still makes this load any more I haven't seen them anywhere. I am down to my last dozen or so and would like some more.

I was actually looking at the BB 180gn to replace these.

And yes the GC will reduce leading. i don't like to run lead much faster than about 850fps without a gas check.

Tim Sundles email from BB on the 19A

1) my 2.5 inch bbl will stabilize the 180 gr cast bullet.
2) POI depends on specific gun.
3) this round will protect against black bear.
4) the gas check will prevent leading of the bbl.
