SWC

But I'm going to Jack your thread slightly and ask what commercially avalible cast bullets would be good for a general field, target, sthf use at high end 38 low level 357 speeds.

posted via that mobile app with the sig lines everyone complaints about

Dardas Cast bullets. Checkout their site, looks like good bullets. Just scroll down on this same page R.W. Dale, you'll see the post about these bullets.

@ RW dale : A truncated cone or SWC are both great all around shapes. Accurate, SWC's poke neat holes in paper, and TC's have a little wider meplat for damage on non-paper targets.

If had to have one, and only one shape, I'd take an SWC or TC without a problem in a wheel gun.

I guess I better vote here too. I say SWC in my 357s because it cuts a nice hole in paper, is an accurate design, and can be called upon for critical use also. It will perform much better on living target than a LRN would.

Like in the other thread, I would need to know the use of the ammo before I could choose a bullet shape/type.

LRN bullet, plinking
SWC bullets, punching paper and small game
Truncated Cone, for the levergun
FN bullets, also for small game.

If you give me a use I can vote.
BUT, in general I load more SWC bullets than any other.

I really like that Lee 158-FP bullet, but I also shoot a lot of DEWC's (and not light target loads)

The Lee 158-2R bullet should be a good one for rifles because of its high B.C, but I haven't tried it yet.

I voted flat-nose. That kind of covers both RNFP and DEWC.

I chose other as I prefer WFN. Much like the ones in rsrocket1 post.
Am I getting to picky ?
