.357 Magnum plinking with my Python

Finest DA revolver ever.
I'm thinking next up would be the Smith L frame.

I haven't seen many .357 revolvers I didn't like, and the Python is a fine possession. The workmanship is first rate and the only problem with the gun is the grip, which seems like it was designed for an orangutang. It's narrow at the top, where the fingers are longer and it's wider at the bottom, where the fingers are shorter. But the bluing and the looks are as great as the accuracy.

Sometimes the cylinder latch comes out purplish on some guns. Why? Who knows? Anyway, it's the only revolver I've ever wanted in blued over stainless. A 4-incher would be ideal.

Not being able to afford a Python, I settled on a S&W 686, which I think is as accurate and more durable. But they're not Pythons!

Years ago, a friend sold my dad a Colt Python and a Gold Cup .45 auto. I'm sorry he didn't hold onto them. I was just getting into guns then, and I remember how taken I was with the Python. Don't know much about the stainless models, though.

When S&W decided to beef up its .357, it looked strangely
familiar. The accuracy and balance were first rate, and shooters
liked the full underlug; but there was no mistaking its parentage.

I own 7 Pythons now, 1 blue and 6 stainless, overall they're all great revolvers. But my first revolver and still one of my favoraties is the 686-4 plus model with a 6" barrel.
