Ii am looking for load information for 38 and .357 using 158Gr. Hard cast bullet and red dot or promo powder. My older books don’t have any loads listed.

index.php

Promo used to look like Red Dot with round flakes added and no "red dot" but newer containers of Promo no longer looks like Red Dot and round flake size is smaller/more consistent for better metering.

When I conducted Promo load development, I used Red Dot load data by weight.

This is what Alliant says on their website - http://www.alliantpowder.com/products/powder/promo.aspx

"Promo has the same burn speed as Red Dot, but is more dense, thus requiring a smaller bushing to obtain the same charge weight."

Current Alliant load data for 158 gr lead .38 Spl - http://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...owderlist.aspx&type=1&powderid=4&cartridge=26

You can also reference 2004 Alliant load data (page 42 of pdf) which has 158 gr lead .38/.357 loads - http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=182147&d=1364769070

I get excellent accuracy with Red Dot, 4 grains, and cast bullets in that wgt range.
