Hi all. I recently bought about 250 .38 cal 140gr Hornady XTP's at a local estate sale and my manuals don't show any data for a 140gr jacketed bullet. Any suggestions on where to start?
FYI.. I use 357 magnum cases.

What do you have for powder? My newest Hdy manual (#10) lists 7 different powder suggestions for the 140gr. Hdy XTP in a 357 Mag. And my Hodgdon manual (#27) lists 6.
That said, if it was me, I'd probably start off by working up a load using HS-6 - simply because I have a few pounds of HS-6 on hand and I don't use it for much of anything else.

I've got a couple lbs of Accurate#9 and i think a pound of either H110 or H380 at the moment.
If I was more awake i'd go open the powder safe and check.

For a C.O.L. of 1.590 (Hdy 140gr. XTP), my Hdy manual shows 11.2grs to 12.9grs of Accurate #9. And my Hodgdon manual shows 17.1grs to 19.0grs of H110.
Just yesterday, I loaded a hundred rounds of 22-250 with H380 powder for an upcoming ground squirrel shoot. I wouldn't think H380 would work all that well in a 357 Mag. ;)

Hmm. I guess I am tired thinking H380 is a handgun powder.
