Is $23 for a box of 50 FMJ target rounds reasonable price (considering the current shortage)?

My local dealer has tons of them at that price.

I would say it is not too bad considering it's about as rare as hens teeth in my neck of th woods and if you do find it it is over $30.00 per box of 50.

What is this ".380 ACP" you speak of? Is it some kind of pistol ammo?

:D

In all serious, if you can find .380, buy it.

My local dealer is starting to get .380 back in. It has tons of WWB and American Eagle, right about $20 a box. Even a decent selction of premium ammo. I picked up 4 boxes of American Eagle when I saw it for that price.

It costs me about an hour in the garage. I have all the bullets, brass, powder, etc... to load up a couple hundred more rounds. I already fired about 500 this summer.

FMJ are back on the shelf and go for about $16-$18/50 here. I wouldn't pay more than that, but I'm cheap. I was lucky enough to buy a bunch of cheap FMJ when I bought my LCP (before Obamascare 2008) and it's lasted me through the drought.

I've paid that after I told myself I wouldn't pay more than $20. :) Of course that's plinker ball ammo, I've paid a $1.00 a piece for SD cartridges.

I've still got some $8.99 UMC left to shoot so I guess it all kinda evens out.

boy, i am glad i am not in your shoes. i bought many boxes while it was $12.99/50. still have 500 virgin rounds. been reloading most of what i shoot. much, much cheaper. only way i would pay those prices is if i was in the middle of a gunfight, and ran out of ammo!

TIME TO SELL YOUR .380 PISTOLS !!

I cannot understand why anyone would carry a .380 pistol when there are 9mm the same size and, perhaps, with more bullets in the mag.

Since .380's are hot and the ammo is gone, sell it and get a 9mm.

I have a Kel Tec 9mm which is small, light, powerful and uses easy to find 9mm ammo. No Brainer.

You can find a 9 MM the size of a Ruger LCP? :-/ I've held the Kel-Tec you speak of, and it isn't the same size.

My primary carry guns are .357 and .40. However, I have a BUG in .380. I have dies, bullets, brass and hundreds of rounds loaded. No way I'm selling this thing.

.380 ammo is starting to show up. A friend just got a back order of 10 boxes of Magtech FMJ from Cabelas. I think he paid $15 a box. I bought four boxes of Winchester white box a month ago from a local store for $24.95 a pop, and was glad to get it. Let's hope prices return to some reasonable amount. To the OP, I guess I'd buy a couple of boxes as a hedge and hope for the downturn.

250rds of American Eagle FMJ's for 100bux. I have it in the for sale section. I paid 30/box when i got my LCP and stocked up... Stupid me to buy high sell low. Live and learn

JOe

I haven't seen any .380 ammo in any gun shop or sporting goods store around the Portland, Oregon area for at least 3 months. Until 2 days ago. I walked into a local "everything" store and saw 1 single lonely box of Remington UMC 95-gr. FMJ for $17.99. I had to do a double take. Then I bought it as fast as I could. Who knows, it could be another 3 months until I see any again...

The shortage is almost over.
I received a shipment backordered from Natchez, S&B FMJ at $17/50.
I received a shipment backordered from Cabella's, S&B FMJ at $17/50.
Still have a backorder on Sportsman's guide for S&B FMJ at $14/50.
(They probably hope I go away, but I won't, at that price)

During the dry days of the shortage, I paid $30 for a box of PMC Bronze (good stuff IMO)
just so I could get to the range.

So, if you need a little practice, yes, get some at $23, but don't stock up.

Well, maybe it's because none are the size of the LCP and the only one close is $1000.

380 ammo has been showing up and I expect that to continue. As supply increases prices will drop. I fully expect to see the market flooded with .380 in the very near future.

I've been buying 50-round boxes of PMC Brass for $14.95 of late. I was surprised to run into a huge supply of the stuff at the Big R in Central Oregon. WallyWorld sells Winchester WB 100-round boxes for just under $34 in my neck of the woods, though it's still hard to find these days. I've also found Magtech ammo in 50-round boxes for $20.

Have you picked up an LCP or a P3AT? I carry a PF-9, but I have no delusions about it being the same size as a P3AT. Those things are tiny!

A price of about $20 is the norm in my area. I don't think that is reasonable considering how little lead, brass and powder is used in manufactering. The problem with .380 is that it is a seasonal bullet, so it's not made all year. If people want prices to go down they should start buying a lot less. Make the law of supply and demand tip in your favor.
