.380 ammo price

For me it depends on where I'm at. If I head to my local gun shop, they are still selling 50 round boxes for $30+. 25 round boxes of SD ammo are going for $25+. Now, just the other day I found a store about 30 miles from my house on the 'skirts' of civilization that had 10 - 50 round boxes marked at $17.99 each! I haven't seen any .380 at any Wal-Mart near my in at least a year.

That's about $8 too much for a box of 50 range ammo rounds, IMO.

I can get range ammo like Magtech for $14 a box at my semi-local gun store. Just goes to show how many people are trying to take advantage of the shortage. If that is your only source, then I guess you should pony up the extra $, otherwise I would stop buying it or start reloading.

I began to find .380 ammo about 5-6 months ago. There has been none in my metro area for almost a year. I found rural and outstate fleet/farm stores to have it at reasonable prices along with other ammo. PMC jhp was $20 for a box of 25, but I found PMC and Federal American Eagle fmj for $16/box of 50. In the last few months, I have seen ammo on store shelves again in metro areas.

I just bought 5 boxes of Remington FMJ for $19.99 per box. I would have bought more but they had a 5 box limit for each customer. I promptly went to the range and they had about 100 boxes of PMC Bronze .380 acp for $19.99. There was no limit on the number of boxes I could purchase so I bought 10 more boxes (the guy behind me in line did the same thing).

I tell you this story so you can understand one very crucial point. If you find it, buy it!

And yes, $23.00 is a reasonable price.

I just picked up 2 100 round WWB for $36 each at walmart. Everything is becoming more available, you just have to be a little lucky sometimes. Or just be nice to the old guy working behind the counter and he'll give you a heads up about incoming shipments.;)

You don't say what part of the nation you are from so I can't really say if that is a good price for you or not but if my local dealer was selling .380 ammo at $23.00 a box he would have them a long time. I get most of mine between $14.00 and $17.00 for 50 in various places in the northwest.

I forgot to mention this in my previous post so I'd like to make a point here. Ammo hoarding= high prices and shortage. The more people buy the less there is, and the less there is, the more retail outlets can get away with charging for it, and the harder it is for you to find it. So do us all a favor and cut it out you hoard monkeys, you know who you are. You can't fight a war with .380s anyway. :)

I know this is a few days old, but I found this at Cabelas the other day. It would appear the "true" hoarder was Cabelas all along! LOL! This has been by far the largest supply of .380 in one place I've seen in a very, very long time. Each box was marked $24.99!

Just get friendly with the Wal-Mart clerk in sporting goods. I get it for about $10.00 to $12.00 here in TN depending on the manufacturer.

From what I was told, the .380/9mm Kurz is extremely popular in Europe and they have been inflating the price.

I buy my inexpensive FMJ ball ammo at Dicks (Remington UMC) at about $15/50. I had to learn their stock delivery days and be there early but they never gouged on price. I would expect to pay more for hollow points or self defense ammo. The shortage has really let us know which retailers are more concerend with a few bucks than treating customers fairly.
