I have read on the forums about possible concerns on the Bersa .380 Thunder aluminum feed ramp being chewed up by some hollowpoint rounds. I've have not seen anyone write about how the Gold Dot Hollow Points might affect the feed ramp. If they are of no concern I would like to try Georgia Arms Gold Dot load for a carry round. Your thoughts please.

Thanks,

I ran a box of 20 Gold Dots through mine with no problem.

Aslo put 20 rounds of Federal Hydrashok. The feed ramp still looks fine, but I suppose I can see the concern if you're going to carry the gun with HP's and want to practice a lot with them.

Ive fired about every brand of HP in mine and never noticed any damage. Target practice with ball and carry a good HP. I have settled on Rem102 GS for all my 380's

Hi.

Hundreds of rounds of PMC Starfire, Speer Gold Dot, Remington Golden Saber did not produce any noticeable wear on the aluminium frame's feed ramp of my Thunder 380. However, a run of 20-odd Federal Hydra-Shoks and a handful of TPZ (Wolf) FMJ produced a tiny, tiny bald spot right on the ramp lip, left of center as one looks up the chamber.

The smoothest-chambering HP I've tried, based on sound and 'feel' has been the Remington Golden Saber. I'd surely have no problem chambering a truckload of Gold Dots, and performance-wise ---they might arguably be the most effective JHP in .380 ACP out there.

hth.

I've fired a hundred Gold-Dots with no problem. For that matter, I've fired just about everything else through my Bersa with no problem too. The round my Bersa Thunder seems to love the best as far as accuracy goes, is the cheap CCI Blazer FMJ's in the aluminum cases but, as I said, it hasn't met a type of round it doesn't like.
