It looks like you have the hogue grips. I put them on mine but they felt like they were significantly wider than the s&w stocks.

The M39 is a great pistol.

Wif has been searching for 2 years. Interest and price are rising. They are not easy to find.

The M58 seems to be more abundant, but the double stack mag/grip is a huge hindrance to many.

S&W got it right, with the M39. Too bad, most of the buying public missed it.

TarDevil:

A very affordable 908 (3rd Gen, despite three digits) was on GB last December so I bought it.

Same size and ergos as 3913/3914.
Less concern with the nicely-blued finish of the 908.

Chris Oxford: yours is such a beauty!

I appreciate that

I am obviously a fan - great pistols. View attachment 1037567
Yes Sir you are! That's amazing. I used to have a Smith model 645. I needed some quick cash and sold it. I can still kick myself everyday for letting it go. That gun had a really nice custom Kirkpatrick holster and some gorgeous faux ivory Ajax grips that had the yellowed aged look. This 3913 is the only handgun I've had since the 645 that feels the same in my hand.

For those who are new to these: This is almost the same pistol submitted for the Army Pistol Trials in 1954. Army command wanted a 4"+ barrel, alloy frame, and 9mm as near as American makers could get to the Walther P38. But the bean counters said no, too much .45 ACP in bunkers and 2.5 million 1911's to bother.

In 1984 we got the Beretta M9, which is a Walther redesign.

My hands are large so the double stack mag isn't a problem at least to me on the model 58. But I am old school. I've had and still have many 1911's. I like the feel, profile, and heft of those guns. This gun I picked up pretty closely replicates that to me.

Nice pistol Mr. Oxford, I hope you got a good deal.

I'm a fan of S&W pistols too.

When I was in Law Enforcement I carried a Model 3913 in addition to my issued Model 19. The Model 19 was on my right hip. The Model 3913 rode in a rough out iwb holster on the straps of my vest under my uniform shirt.

I still have it, but neither carry it nor shoot it.

I like that. I did okay but it was one of those situations where I possibly could have done a little better but wanted it and jumped on it.

Finding what you want and paying a price agreeable to both, makes a good deal.

I had been looking for a Single Six, for a while.
I see a listing on Armslist. Contact the seller. He is 10 minutes from me. His ad was poorly written and it almost skipped over it.

Set up a meet.
Find out, his Single Six is an unconverted Old Model, both cylinders, with wood grips and 5 1/2" barrel.

His price was fair and I paid him. He looked a bit shocked.
I told him, I had been looking and this was exactly what I wanted. I could have dickered price, but doesn't mean he would have dropped price. I get what I wanted, at a price I was willing to pay. He sold his gun, at the price he needed/wanted. We are both happy.

Even if you overpaid a little, you still got a great gun and one that is perfect for concealed carry!

Here's hoping it shoots as good as it looks!
