You may wish to visit gmdr.com. This site has all manner of lower power loads for lever guns or Contenders including the 45-70, and interesting information on why one might wish to use pistol powders in large rifle or pistol cases.
I use one of their recipes in my Marlin 1895 and love it. I'm using 15.0 gr. of Hodgdon HS-6 under a MBC 300gr. LFP for around 1100-1200 fps. I can shoot those all day long in my 22" 1895, and would think it could work really nicely in your pistol. Take a look! Cheers!
