i almost wet myself, when i saw the last pic.

Another solution to a problem not yet invented.

I´d like a folding stock on that, please.

never shot a 45-70 any advantages from just shooting slugs outta that instead? It would be about same range right? 50 to a 100 yard weapon?

If I ever build a gun that will knock me in the head every shot, I want fine walnut furniture on it...

Other than that, neat!

I followed the link to the source. The head knock happened because the gun doubled! The builder has since corrected that issue. As much as I enjoy the 45-70, I have no use for it in a handgun.

I hunted with 265 grain Hornadys for 10 years loaded in a 14" contender barrel chambered in 444 Marlin. No brake and from that experience I have permanent scars on both elbows from the many times those elbows skidded across the shooting table.

I had a 45-70 barrel (16") on a Encore handgun frame of which I shot 3 times with 350grain Hornady's loaded to 1800fps (data for rifle).
Sticky note was place on box by me when I got home." do not shoot without quality brake".
I sold the barrel!

Neal

I wonder if it would be possible to design a high powered snubbie like that one, that fires from the bottom cylinder instead of the top cylinder? that way, the gun has much less leverage for barrel-flip and would not twist the wrist as badly...

^ Yeah, exactly!

I suppose after a certain point, you are just building the wrong gun for the wrong situation and there really is no "good" way to do it...

Well Sir, remember those words one day when a rabid bison charges you on a city sidewalk!

those two guns easily make the most hilarious ccw pieces, ever.

... the snubbie will hurt on both ends.
Gives me a chuckle.

Fired a T/C contender in 45/70 and it had a brake,3 shots was all my wrist and elbows could endure. 300 gr factory by the way.

The Thunder 5 was .45 colt/410, not .45-70. Same as the judge, just 10 years earlier.

This thing looks like it would be terrible to shoot. Can't really carry or conceal it, not the best sites from the looks of it.... but I REALLY want one.

I've actually shot the BFR in .45-70. It wasn't too bad at all. With factory hunting rounds (NOT B-bore or garrett) it was a tolerable, rolling recoil. Far less snappy than a .454 Casull. And the thing was actually dead on accurate at fifty with irons.

I would see no problem with a Howdah-size breach loader in .45-70, using the cowboy and mid-range loads. The key would be to design the stock for a rolling recoil, rather than straight back.
