What's the consensus on which type SPP's to use for the 45 ACP cases that use them? Do I need Magnum primers, can I use standard SPP's? I hear conflicting views on this... I'm finding more and more of these small primer cases, and have started saving them. When I get enough of them, I'll start loading them...

Regular small pistol primers and you don't have to change your regular load. You won't notice any difference at all on target.

Hope this helps.

What Fred said. No ambiguity about it. In the case of the .45 ACP, primer size makes no difference at all.

If you are using a load that requires a magnum large pistol primer, then use a magnum small pistol primer. If your load uses standard, then use stander small pistol primers. No need to work up a new load IMHO.

I just acquired 4K of Speer and Federal spp brass, along with 15K of CCI 500 SPP.
So far I have shot 400 rounds with my same load of HP38.
No different than with the CCI 300 LPP.

BTW, I don't think you could get a consensus on ANYTHING on a gun forum.:)
