These comparison discussions come up because people have a certain flavor they like and have a hard time entertaining another mindset. It will happen over and over and over
Either get over it or pay no attention to them.

Well the issue is there is a series of misconceptions going on around here. Flavor would be a good reason to do something because it "works for you"
The problem is that the OP said "viable." Is a .22 viable for hunting deer? Yeah...I guess. It CAN work with the right shot placement...it wouldn't be my first choice. The standard of "viable" is literally that low.
No one has mentioned they don't like the .45 acp because they are limited in the sub-combat option range, or that there may be terminal performance issues in sub-compacts. No one has mentioned different companies issues with defense bullets being advertised to do more then they do. People have mentioned lower magazine sizes, but really? if you have a 9mm with 15 rounds and a glock 21 with 13 rounds....aren't we just being silly for crying over a whopping 2 round difference? Besides...dudes on here shouldn't be trying to get into a 2 hour shoot out where
you need that much ammo anyways..you can't even control your pistols recoil, and if you can't kill someone in 13 rounds....i mean....maybe you should find a good trainer. fiddy cent is alive for a reason.
People have said things about the military, but ,they dont even know what they are talking about. i've never carried SO much .45 acp ammo on me that the weight was any noticeably different than 9mm ammo. In the military. For over a decade. During war. Or training. Period.
The people talking about a 9mm going through body armor better than a .45 acp are just flat out retarded. The end.
Finally the ballistics...in general...are either not worst, or/but usually better than a 9mm....100% of the time.
Flavor would be..."I'm a 5'1 midget, the only gun that doesn't print out of my clothes when I appendix carry is my Ruger LCP9." The narration...whether its a personal reason or not, has reasoning behind it of some type...even if it makes no sense to you.
Problem is...like i said before...you wont hear about those reasons....like "I suck, I can't handle long push recoil, hence why I shoot 9mm."
That's why there is debate. Misconceptions and denial. And the word "viable."
