With the help of Walkalong I finally got my loads to run. I still Have a few problems. The gun is a Wilson CQB 5" .45 ACP. The Load is:

.45 cal 200 gr Berry Hp
4.9 gr WST (a few with 4.7 gr WST)
WLP Primer
Mixed Cases
1.200 OAL
.469 Crimp

The problem is I get about 2-3 Failure to Feed? where the round is only going halfway into the chamber in the first ~185 rounds (on a fresh mag). Not too bad but not the best either. Then from that point on it's about evey other fresh mag has problems. As walkalong sugested I tried a few differant mags but so far every one works about the same (fine until the round count gets up there). I have tried 47D's, ETM's, standard 7 round kimber, and a 7 round kimber pro mag. I belive it is partially b/c the guns gets too dirty to function. wish i had more mags to try but.......

Any Sugestions? I think I'm also going to try a little less crimp b/c i think it slightly smushes the bullet. Don't think that going to fix anything though. The load is for my IDPA Comp and I generally don't shoot more than 120 in a session but still.

Maybe I'll try one of those kits...

I guess one of my questions is how many rounds does the average reloader shoot until he needs to clean for proper functioning. Less than 200? I know it will depend on the load but something in the balk park of what i'm shooting.

You should be able to go several hundred rounds with no cleaning in stock chambers with no problems, at least with reasonably clean loads, as yours is.

Your chamber is awfully tight if 200 rounds gets it dirty enough to stop chambering good ammo. It could be the ammo is a tad over SAMMI minimum combined with a tight chamber.

Does it run dirty with factory ammo?

Have you tried a case gauge to check your reloads. If you do have a very tight chamber, your reloads must be able to pass a gauge for consistent functioning.

I have an EMP with a very tight chamber. I must gauge all my reloads to make sure they will be OK. Well, actually, I just gauge the sized brass. I don't check the loaded rounds.

You have tried many good mags, so I don't think it is that. I would suspect a very tight chamber, or something other mechanical.

It's a Wilson. Call them. If it is a mechanical problem, they will take care of it.

I forgot all about that. I'll have to go get one and try that out. And it's been so long since i've shot standard ammo. I can't even remember how dirty it got. I also think i will call wilson. I know they hae a list of ammo they don't like. we'll see......

For what it's worth. I bought a Dan Wesson Pointman. It took at least 600 rounds to get it to run relible. Tried 1000 berry's 200gr RS. I had the same problem as you. I played with the powder charge, OAL as well as the crimp. Nothing changed. The Pointman just didn't like them. Swiched to Berry's 230 gr RN DS. Round count now over 4500 it has not missed a beat. Usually clean every 300 Rds. This is what worked for me. Hope this helps.
