I put the cart before the horse and bought some Hornady XTP 300 grain hollow points (product #45230). They were inexpensive and I figured why not? Well there is no load data for 300 grain jacketed bullets in my Lymans. Anyone have some Unique recipes for 45 Colt using this bullet? I see some here and there on the web, but most are for lighter bullets.

I am thinking of starting at 6.5 grains Unique behind the Hornady 45230 bullet and a Winchester Large Pistol primer.

This site suggests starting 6.1 grains Unique and working up to 6.8 grains. Anyone ever use their recipes?

I will be shooting the loads from an early 1970's Ruger Blackhawk convertible with a 7.5 inch bbl. By no means a fragile firearm, but no sense taking chances. I do not have a chrono, so how do I know where to stop?
