I'm very comfortable with the idea of the 45 Colt for conflict resolution purposes.

Biker, I carry mine in a Don Hume beltside. I keep her loaded with Winchester Super X 225gr. Silvertip HP's. I may, however, swap to Buffalo Bore. I really like the gun; I use it as my warm weather carry gun.

a simple summary on .45 colt - underestimate at your own peril.

a classic revolver/carbine round that still works just fine.

Why, all of the above of course, even including the last one albeit only technically. I often use the .45 Colt to boost my machismo, however I don't mean the cartridge. I find that stuffing a Single Action Army all the way down the front of my britches does an admirable job of filling space that's otherwise been left empty for unfair reasons.:D

I guess I should point out UNLOADED, of course, or the space would be empty for much more unfortunate reasons.:uhoh:

+1 on an all of the above option

I've got a uberti gunman in .45 LC Great gun, hits hard, quick to draw and fire, and cheap to shoot if you reload

To ebdio 10 Yep, those N will take a bit and so does a Ruger
Convertable 45ACP/ 45 LC. The 45 LC is even more awsome
than my 44 Ruger with a bigger chunk of lead.
A walk around than might even be a survival tool is a
Contender single shot that has a screw in choke for shot. It
has to be removed for the 45 LC. Had the chamber lengthened
to also chamber .410 shotshells (3"). Both are a handful, but the
shot pattern is dense to 50 ft and with the choke removed, 45
pretty accurate. Haven't thought about it much, but 454 might
even work.
Not sure a double action is a necessary factor for me in either
hunting or defense! The single shot is a fun gun!

Texas Ranger Frank Hamer

Hamer carried a SAA he called 'Old Lucky'. He was the man who ended up running Bonnie and Clyde's murderous rampage. When asked why he carried a five shot, 45 revolver he is reported to have replied, "If I can't finish it with five shots I'd be guilty of sloppy law enforcing."
