looking for someone who actually owns or has shot one of these 'new' .45 carbines...

I've seen tons of folks shooting them at 25 and 50 yards, but no one using a scope at 100 yards to see what it's capable of. So that's what I'm looking for, someone who's shot a scoped .45 carbine from hi point at 100 yards? I've been looking around on the net, haven't found anything yet, but I'm pretty notorious for looking right at something and not seeing it

not trying to be rude, but I'm not asking about the 9mm or the .40 carbine, just mainly interested in this one weapon's range.

anyone?

thanks.

I have shot mine at 100 with a red dot, which is not very precise, and got groups around 5". The bullet really starts to drop past that, but I have been able to hit paper at 200 with some serious hold over.

Why? Send it in and they will fix or replace it for free. They will give you a mag and good fluff and buff too.

Yeah, their warranty is almost legendary. Turn around time for my pistol was 2wks, no questions asked.

thanks rule, I was looking for someone who actually shot one at 100 yards and wasn't scared to post the results.

I know with any gun there are good ones and bad ones, maybe you got a good one and it'll do decent 100 yard grouping, maybe I'll get a bad one.. we'll see.

As per my screen name I'm a fan of hi point, my .45 pistol does great, I can't shoot any other auto any more accurately (notice I said I can't). I can shoot wheel guns better any day of the week, but I think that's a given with almost anyone.

My old ones were very picky about ammo, but the new ones fixed all that and I've yet to have one jam. I've shot the 9mm carbine and loved it, but I'm not a fan of 9mm.

As soon as I can get rid of this rossi circuit judge, I'm going to buy one. anyone wanna trade? ;)

He said is broken. We will see. I can post the pre-diagnosis here if anyone is interested. Sending that in sounds like a good idea. I will tell him.
Accuracy I don't have any targets but for me is not hard to make all rounds into a head size circle with open sights and the occasional flier.
The keltec carbine is even a little better in terms of accuracy at least for me but we only have 9mm and 40cal on that one. not 45.
I hope this feedback somehow helps you.
Cheers.

Really? Don't like the circuit judge? What are your impressions? Why you dropping it?

I have the 9mm, .40 and .45 carbine as well as the .40 Keltec Sub 2000 and Marlin Camp 45. The Marlin is by far my favorite. Kel tec second and both for the same reason. Common mags. 1911 for the Marlin and Glock for the Keltec.
My .45 Hipoint carbine came with a canted front sight making it difficult to hit anything. I really haven't had time to deal with it yet, so mu accuracy at 100 yards was poor at best. The other 2 are great, I suspect this will be too for a .45 ACP. I am considering trying some different powders and loads to improve that, they are +P rated after all.

@ Panzercat,

I got the circuit judge in hopes of having a gun that I could shoot a squirrel or a deer with, the end all hunting gun. And while you can do this, it's absolutely NO GOOD past 50 yards. at 50 yards you could hit a deer chest size target, at 75 yards it's grouping about 12-14 inches maybe larger. Your likely as not to miss the entire target. I've put about a hundred dollars worth of ammo through it, with a scope, tried different speeds and weights, and while heavy and slow seemed to be best, I could still not get it to reliably hit the paper at 75 yards.

if you're using it for 50 yards or less, it's fine. Just totally not what I had in mind when I bought it...

I'm open to any suggestions for improving accuracy with that critter if you can think of anything, I don't want to give up on it, but I keep dumping money into ammo for it trying to find something that works, and I'm starting to think it's not the ammo. I can literally group better with my father's .41 magnum pistol than this thing... it's not the revolver/rifle idea that's bad, it's rossi's manufacturing.

I can't comment on the .45 carbine. I had the 9mm and it was decent to 100 yards, scoped. Won't comment any further since it's not exactly what you'd be looking for.

I had one in 9mm for about 6 months. It shot about 5" groups at 50 yards with Winchester FMJ ammo and a compact 4x32 scope. I had a guy offer me $375 for it and it went out the door..........I only gave $225 for it and didn't like the accuracy or trigger.

$375!!! wow! good job! I wish they would come make me offers on all of my guns :D

I've had the Hi Point .45acp carbine for about nine months. I used Win WB in it for the first 600 rounds and have been testing loads in it since then. Now at about 1100 rounds. It has fed everything but SWC bullets, and I think that is a mag issue. I've had one FTF otherwise, and I've shot some heavy loads with no problem. So far I have not been impressed with the accuracy. The best I have been able to manage is about one inch at 25 yards five shot group. I removed the iron sights before the first shot and have been trying different scopes and red dot sights. I have shot it at 100 yards, but the results were awful, like?/ 10 inch groups:barf:

But I bought it as a range toy and for that it works fine. I'll continue to try different loads and maybe find something that will click.

that's still 10 times better than the rossi circuit judge I own! a person a few posts up was saying he gets 5 inch grouping with his, so it does seem that their quality control might be a little off on these things. I guess I'll wait to get one until I can find one that I can shoot first!

I regularly shoot SWC in mine, and it feeds fine so far. The mags can be a little finicky from what I've heard.

To the OP, sorry, but haven't shot mine at 100 yards, but that's not what I bought it for anyhow. I was happily surprised at how well it does at 50 yards though.

Somehow I missed this thread when it was most active. I've had a Hi-Point .45 carbine for about six months now and I've put around 700 rounds through it, about half WWB and half Rem UMC. Never had a single FTF or FTE with either.

I'm seeing two-inch groups at 50 yards and five-inch groups at 100. Not fantastic, but certainly good enough for the range toy that it mainly is, and also just fine for home defense uses. I definitely feel that I got my money's worth. From what I'm reading here I must have an exceptionally good one, which doesn't indicate that Hi-Point is big on quality control.
