Hello:

Is any company making a .45ACP semi-auto carbine other than the Mech Tech conversion unit? I have a Ruger PC 9 and thought that a .45 ACP version or something like it, would be great.

Pete

I can't recall anyone making a .45 carbine other than the Kahr Arms/Auto Ordinance Tommy gun types. Then there are the various ARs using .45 uppers. I really wish that Marlin would bring back the Camp 9 and Camp 45. Great little guns.

edit. oops. forgot the H&K carbine.

Unfotunately, HK stopped importing the USC carbine. Olympic Arms makes a nice AR upper or complete carbines. I had one in 9mm, lots o' fun, reliable.

If you take the bits that make the USC stock a thumbhole instead of a pistol-grip, is that illegal?

unfortuneatly, Marlin won't be bringing the camp carbines back.
they didn't fit into thier 'hunting, sporting' image.

this is the same company that dropped thier web forum earlier this month out of liability concerns.

occaisionally, one will pop up at a show or on the net.

almost sold my 45 a couple years back to buy my lever rifle.
the I found they were discontinued. kept it.;)
still got lever rifle, though.

awhile back there was a post on GT about a rifle based on either FAL or Cetme that was chambered in 45 that used grease gun mags.

just tried to find it through searches, but no luck.

You're right. I have so much fun with my PC 9 that I thought a .45 ACP version would be great. I went to the Ruger site with the idea of firing off an email to them expressing interest but they don't have an email address listed. I doubt that it will cause any excitement at Ruger but tomorrow I'm going to blow some bucks on a long distance call to see what they say.

Beretta CX4 Storm in .40 & .45

Here's the e-mail I received from Beretta today:

I just picked up a Beretta Storm, and I couldn't be happier with it. I'd be interested in one in .45 as well. Beretta originally advertised that you'd be able to convert them to other calibers with a barrel/bolt swap and possibly a magwell adapter. I'm sure the 9/.40 could do that, but I don't know if the .45 Storm will be any different or not.

I also handled a Hi-Point Carbine today with a buddy looking for a "beater" (his description of an AK for $250) and I must admit, it's pretty neat for $200. If they made a .45, I'd have to buy it... just because of the price if nothing else...

I believe Feather Arms also still makes their AT series carbine in .45. They run about $500-600 if I remember right.

It's unbelievable!!!

It's crazy that as popular as the .45 ACP is that there aren't any affordable carbines in the caliber. Notice, I said affordable. Companies make some crazy combinations in firearms, such as a .17HMR revolver, but something as desirable as a .45 carbine for under $400.00 dollars is non-existant. Where are their R&D guys? If someone like Keltec came up with one that worked, they would HAVE to sell!!!!!!!!!!

A reply from Ruger:

Dear Pete:
We have no plans to chamber the PC-9 in .45. We appreciate your idea and we will take it into consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Robert Thompson

If you have an old beater 1911 laying around, Wilson Combat makes a 45ACP conversion kit that all you have to do is to take off the slide assembly and put the conversion kit on and replace the slide stop and use your 1911 magazines ........stainless steel bull barrel, can't tell how long it is, but, looks to be a least 14-16".........on the Wilson website......looks pretty decent...............

I'm not against the Mech Tech. I've got one. Just put 300 rounds through it yesterday. Why would I want another .45 ACP carbine? For the same reason I have three .44s, three .45s, three .357's, two 9mm, etc., etc. You get the idea.

Actually, in reading my original post, I can see that it can be misleading. I just liked the "feel" of the PC 9 and thought something similar would be great.

Olympic Arms...........

..........makes a AR style .45 rifle. I have the Beretta Storm in 9mm aand I am very happy with it. I also have the .45 version on order. I think Beretta is going to have a real winner with the .45 Cx4 Storm. BTW calibers will not be interchangeable here in the USA.
