Anyone reload for this cartridge?

I have a Glock 37 for duty use, and have been throwing around the idea of handloading for it for off-duty practice (would certainly save money on this one!).

It is still a bit of an odd-ball cartridge, and I haven't come across anyone that loads for it. So, if you do, please throw in any advice that you might have! Also, anyone encounter issues with the Glock's chamber support (or lack thereof) when reloading for this cartridge?

Thanks!

I have a G37 that I reload for. It isn’t any different from reloading for other cartridges that headspace on the case mouth. I’ve had no problem with case support in the 45GAP.

Glad to hear that some folks are loading for this caliber!

When I got into loading (a couple of months ago) I didn't even think of my duty-trusted .45 GAP. The biggest problem with my Glock 37 is that the ammo is expensive, and I've normally used it only for shooting at work (where the ammo is free and unlimited). My .40S&W has thus been my go-to caliber for off-duty handgunning.

But, it occurred to me last night that I could probably save substantially by rolling my own GAP cartridges.

Just need to find a good source for GAP brass now!

Interestingly,

In doing some window shopping online today, it appears that the gap (intentional pun) between .45ACP and .45GAP ammunition prices is decreasing.

There isn't much of a market for once-fired GAP brass yet, but new brass is comparably (if not identically) priced with ACP brass at a number of online retailers. Bullets are the same. The GAP round is still lacking in terms of available loadings and selection, which makes another argument for handloading.

Either way, buying factory .45 ACP is also too expensive these days, so I would handload either cartridge!

Coloradokevin, you're looking for fired GAP brass?, your dept. offers ammo free and unlimited?, why don't you hit up the RO at your dept. range for brass? You may also want to check with him about shooting reloads in a dept. issued gun, some places prohibit that practice.

Unfortunately we are shooting CCI as practice ammo (it isn't brass cased - I think it is aluminum). Otherwise I'd load up on range scraps at work!
