I have shot very light 38 Specials and seen the primer backed out, so the friction between case and chamber was such the case pressure was not able to overcome the pressure inside the primer. The primer adds bolt thrust you know.
If there was a Museum of half baked ideas and half assed measures, surely the idea of stressing a cartridge to reduce bolt thrust would be center isle.
