Anyone has one of this 5.45 Savage from CMP Armory? What is the Savage platform that built on? How does it feed and shoot? Who makes the barrel? How long? Any picture? Below is the description at their website, under services. http://cmparmory.com/

I like how the scope only adds $10. That screams quality.
I thought about that, but it is possible that they purchase package Savage (like 111 series) which basically gives a free scope and save $10 if you don't want the scope. The scope in these package guns are generally cheap but functional.

While I can't comment on the Savage, I do have an Argentine FAL kit that CMP built on a Coonan receiver for me. It was first rate work and I've been pleased with it for about 3 years now. I imagine this product is just as quality as the other builds they do.

I love the 5.45 round. I already have a 5.45 Saiga and 5.45 AR-15, adding a savage bolt action would be great. I emailed them for more info, when I get a response I will post it.

I can't think of a reason to own one personally. AK-74 to blast steel cased surplus, you bet. Bolt gun to shoot the same? Not so much.

While there is at least one testimonial of quality work in this thread, the website and obvious misspelling of "muzzle" would lead me to believe otherwise. That is not a rebuttal to post #7, just the impression I got.

I might take a look at a 5.45 boltie if it had a chrome-lined chamber and bore and easily changeable barrel. Then again...

that website is pretty much worthless, all I see is, we are not THAT CMP, we have a license to build guns and we are selling a tommy gun...

if it's the rifle I'm thinking of, there is nothing custom about it. savage arms builds a plinker rifle in 5.45x39mm. I was thinking about getting one for a long time but in the end decided to waste my dollars on other guns. essentially it's a savage that they thread the barrel for a suppressor.

There was some talk that savage was going to chamber there model 25 for the 5.45 a couple years back but that went away and maybe so did this unknown cmparmory company.

I had my 'smith build me a 5.45 X 39 on a Savage BVSS years back. I set it up with a Palma rear and Lyman 93 front signt. It's way more rifle that this caliber needs ... but I like it. I also shoot a SSG-82.

There may not be a need for a bolt 5.45 X 39 ... but what the heck; fun is FUN!

not quite, it was actually listed on their catalog for a long time so it definitely made it past the rumor stage.

From what I was able to gather on the Savage 25 in 5.45 was that "they were not able to get satisfactory accuracy during their testing."

However, I think they realized that there was probably not enough market to get involved with that caliber in a bolt rifle ... which may or may not be the case. I gathered from my reading on various Savage forums that it's a dead issue now. By the way ...has anyone seen any of that Hornady/Russian 5.45 in stock anywhere lately?

A while back, Midway or Graf had a sale on Hornady blemished 5.45 bullets and I bought a bunch. Didn't see any blemishes (which is usually the case).
I also shoot .220 Russian in a couple rifles (Soviet MBO-1 Running Deer straight pull and a Ruger No 1). If you reload or can buy decent ammo (Hornady), I can see the ability to get decent accuracy, but just shooting steel-cased Milsurp ... Gee, I don't know.
