What are the correct headstamps for GI issue?

My experience is that Lake City is about all that is available in the Midwest, and that most of it is diverted from range familiarization. I don't think the Army is dumping much surplus considering the current rates of consumption overseas.

If "FC 04" designates "Federal Cartridge 2004," I've agree it's most likely a reload with somebody's poor idea of a paint job. Frankly, it's simply not thinned enough. Ammo tipped in paint is usually done with a water thin mix.

With the vast amount of brass coming off post, and the unlikelihood of any legally acquired live ammo, I wouldn't even try to get the stuff. Further, the performance downrange is a no brainer - FMJ varmint rounds are not as effective as HP.

It's good cheap plinker in the day, but right now, not so much.
