I want to purchase a piston operated 5.56mm/.223 carbine. I am currently interested in the Robinson XCR for the ability to switch calibers in the future with the additional kits. Then reality set in and I doubt I'd actually need/want additional calibers for this firearm. It's use would be mainly for 3 gun competitions and punching paper.
Having carried around a M-4 for the better part of 14 years I am well versed in the caliber and add-ons. I am aware of the different operating systems between the M-4 and the piston operated ones.
What are some of the better piston operated 5.56mm carbines on the market right now? Any opinions, pointers, suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
