The Beowulf is a great big bore AR. I currently own
my second rifle. My understanding is that the round
and rifle was developed for the U.S. Coast Guard by
Alexander Arms at the Radford Gov. Arsenal. The
Guard needed a powerful, short range entry rifle that
would pierce steel doors and hulls when boarding
enemy or drug ships. The rifle lives up to those
expectations. I have punctured 1/4" steel plate
at 25 yards with the 334 gr. round. Yes, there are
armor piercing rounds out there, but the .50 Beowulf
was a jacketed hollow point.
