Just hit the 500 round mark today, mostly FMJ but about 50 rounds of Remington Golden Sabre 230 grain and Hornady Critical Defense 185 grain. Yes, it's a Taurus Millenium Pro PT145, no I haven't had a single problem other than needing to adjust the Heini sights when bought new. Was hitting Coleman mini propane tanks out to 30 yards, consistently, no problem. Plan to put another 500 through it in the next month or so, wish me luck!

What's so bad about Taurus? My M85 has been trouble free for over a decade and I still regret selling my early model PT99 that saw at least a thousand trouble-free rounds.

I will say the 669 I had did shoot a bit loose after a few hundred rounds of Federal 125gr Classic Hi-Shok (.357mag), but it didn't seem to affect the accuracy any. It could have come that way and have been intentional, I just didn't notice it until I was ready to sell it.

I personally dont care for Taurus handguns at all. However, I respect the fact that there are many fine examples of thier firearms out there, along with some bad.

Congrats on your purchase and I'm glad that its a keeper! Now shoot the snot out of it!

I'm quite happy with my Taurus Millenium Pro .40.
We had a rough start- initially the trigger mechanism had to be replaced; and soon after the magazine spring had to be replaced.
But I'm the kind of person that does not give up because all firearms will have issues during break in and now it fires flawlessly. It's my second carry weapon the other is the Kahr P380.

Good Stuff, Congrats ! . I had some issues with my 709 slim, but on the other hand I've owned 2 Taurus revolvers that worked flawlessly,. either way enjoy that gun.

@REAPER: What in the heck is that?

Taurus Quality Control.

They failed to finish machining the barrel blank, fitted it to the revolver, finished it, boxed it, sent it to Miami, who then sold it to a distributor, that sold it to a dealer that finally caught it.

i've owned a Taurus PT1911 for a few years now, and i've lost track of how many rounds i've shot through it. it has to be in the thousands by now. i'm still waiting for it to jam, or blow up, or something, by all the bad reviews i've read about it.

Anecdotal reports hold little to no value in evaluating a manufacturer or a model's quality. A poor gun manufacturer may produce 95 out of 100 guns that work without issue. 5 out of 100 lemons is extremely high for a tool that one's life may depend on.

If every gun they rolled out was junky they wouldn't still be in business (or they'd have to get down to maybe $400 a gun). It's often a mater of how frequently they spit out a lemon.

You got lucky with your PT1911, I didn't. Count your blessings.

I like it when things were working well though...

Would rather have a good solid club

I'm biased due to many poor interactions with Taurus handguns, but happy that this pistol is working out for the OP. Hope it holds up for ya.

Eyes wide open...

I'm not real crazy about Taurus myself...but I haven't heard anybody say anything bad about those Millenium's.

Well let me be the first! :D :banghead:

Don't kid yourself-Taurus is a step (or three?) behind the more dependable brands in overall reliability, quality control, etc.

When I retired, I took the various makes/models of the usual name-dropper brands I'd been using OT to buy to the range in order to wring 'em out-was dropping plates regularly/quickly with 9mm, 40, 45 with my SIG, S&W, Springfield, HK, etc. The only one I couldn't hit squat with was my PT145 Millenium Pro (2nd Generation). Had to move over to the paper range and kept moving closer, closer, closer...never got one on paper-I have no idea where they were going! I've never dragged it back out to the range to troubleshoot-it was originally planned to be in my CC rotation, but since I have no idea where the POI is, that idea got tossed.

Anywho-before I get accused of being a Taurus basher, iff'n I was, I would not have bought my PT145. I did my research and knew going in I was taking a chance, but there was just so much to like about the PT145 I took a chance-just hasn't worked out for me.

I have a relative that's a gunsmith at the local shop, and when I was mulling over buying a Taurus, he reeeeeally looked like he wanted to beat me over the head (severely) with his Brownells catalog.
On one four trip span to the shop, I found him working on three brand new ones before the owner could put 'em in the display case for sale.
Hmmmm...I took a chance and it didn't work out for me, and three outta four times I found him working on new ones before the could be sold-how ya like those odds?
He also tells me the shop gets more returns/trade-ins on Taurus than any other brand the shop sells.

I often tell folks the main thing I don't like about my PT145 is it doesn't say SIG, S&W, HK, etc on the slide.

I'm not trying to tell anyone not to buy a Taurus-just warning 'em-you better do your research and go into it with your eyes wide open...

Sorry 500 rounds is not impressive, even for a Taurus. I've a PT92 that is close to 5000 and a new PT-1911 9mm that is over 3000 already. I've several RIA that are over 10,000.

I don't have any myself but I have heard scary things about the newer Taurus guns from the owner of the local indoor range. He says they've seen multiple problems at the range with Taurus firearms, including one that launched the slide downrange halfway through the first magazine the owner fired through it. Now take that for what it's worth (something a guy on the internet heard from someone else ... so maybe not very much :) but I've heard enough scary stories that I will avoid purchasing one anytime soon. Glad yours is working out great though and hopefully you get another 500 problem-free rounds through it.

My old man's 9 shot .22 tracker should be back from it's 4th trip back to Taurus, and it's not hit 200 rounds yet in 2 years of shuttling it back and forth. just won't hold it's timing.

Period.

On the other side, my friends CCW Taurus .357 revolver has an action I'd nearly compare to my model 10 SW, even though the gun has been worn in waistband carry for a decade and is as spotty as a Giraffe. Other than the rust from the less than ideal carry... all I've had to do is scrub the rust and wax it in a futile effort to slow the decay.

Don't know if I'd deliberately look for a Taurus, though the Circuit Judge has piqued my interest a Smidge. My LGS knows I love weird revolvers and keeps waving it under my nose.
