Another PT145 Report

I was able to finally shoot my new Taurus PT145 Millenium Pro yesterday. THis is my first Taurus firearm as I've always preferred more expensive, perceived, higher quality pistols. I bought the Taurus after reading so many positive reports here ans elsewhere. I figure for $300 OTD, how could I go wrong.

All I can say is WOW. I put 100 rounds of 230 grain UMC FMJ through it with no problems and very good accuracy for this size gun. The trigger is a bit long, but smooth with a clean break. I was easilty able to get 3 - 4 inch groups at 15 yards without really trying, more point shooting. This is a defense gun, not a target pistol, but is surprisingly accurate and easy to shoot. Felt recoil is nothing like I thought it would be. Very easy and not snappy like I thought it would be. I then put about 20 185 grain Remington Golden Sabers JHP's through it and it still was very easy to control. I noticed more muzzle blast from this ammo and maybe a slightly more recoil, but not much.

The fit and finish on the PT145 is excellent. I can not find fault with it anywhere. It will be nice carrying 11 rounds of .45 in such a small, but easy to handle package. It is even small compared to the Glock 30, but still fills the hand nicely and I have rather large hands. I'm sold.

Another sees the light. It really is amazing that a $300 pistol can work so well. I just picked up a Galco horsehide pocket holster for mine and it's a great solution for pocket carry.

I am aware of about half a dozen PT145's in my cirlcle of friends. I personally have two; one is a pro and the other is not. Both have given admirable service, and I see them as sort of a combination of a G30 and G36. Same capacity as the G30 but more like a G36 width. Not quite the quality of the Glocks, but very close for much less money. You can double strike a FTFire which you cannot with a Glock, but you cannot reset the trigger with a short stroke which you can on a Glock. 24/7 mags will give you 12+1 and work fine, they just stick out the bottom a bit, like using a G21 mag in a G30.

My experience with Taurus has been good. I like the prices and would not hesitate to defend family or life with any Taurus product I own. YMMV.

Thanks guys. Nice to hear your experiences. I ordered a Don Hume H721 belt holster for the PT145. I like to carry that way with an untucked shirt or sweater over it.

I bought a box of Corbon 165 grain +P, JHP's to try in it fro SD. Right now I'm using the 185 gr. Golden Sabers, but when I read the specs on the lighet Corbons well I just ahd to try them. 1250 FPS with 573 ft/lbs energy. Wow. I've heard the lighter, faster bullets are better out of the shorter barrels.

Try the new Taurus copper bullets in your .45 ACP...I love them!
I had a field day at the range with my Taurus Millenium Pro PT145
small frame .45 ACP pistol. Yup, my 200-grain Gold Dots are now
placed up on the shelf, cuz I found me new carry ammo!

The new Barnes XPB 99.95 percent copper bullet using PMC nickel
plated cases and nonmercuric, noncorrosive primers...now marketed by
Taurus...performed exceptionally this Saturday on the range. The
Taurus .45 ACP 185-Grain ammo was exceptiionally accurate, had very
light recoil and according to Barnes, may penetrate more than 25
percent deeper than lead-core bullets of equal weight...and they do
not break apart like the lead ones and expand fabulously. Cleaning
the pistol was a joy since there is no lead fouling in the barrel.

Weapon control was much more manageable with this pocket .45, so
much so, that I was doulble tapping targets...head shots.
Yup...copper bullets are the future in my estimation.

SSSshhhh! Not too loud!!! This little handgun must be kept a secret so that those of us who know the bueaty of this little jewel......

In all honesty.....I wish that everyone knew just how good and dependable this little hand cannon really is and at the price you pay. Mine serves two roles.
Primary CCW in the office and around the house as I can drop it into the right front pocket of most pants I wear and it literally disappears.......yeah I am a big guy. 6' 7" and 315lbs.
It also plays the role of BUG when I carry one of my 1911's. I carry it so often that the blue is wearing off the slide on the exposed edges.......really gives the gun character!!!

heres the way i look at it:

for the price of a glock 30 or hk usp compact or even any kimber, colt, or para...you can buy TWO pt145 mil pros...so think about it...not only do you have 2 guns for the price of 1, but they both carry 11 rounds...thats 22 rounds without interuption of reload for less than 700$!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A STEAL!!!!

Not so happy for me

I had a MillPro 145. Didn't have the same happy experiances shared by so many of you here. Mine was a constant FTF problem child. Different ammo didn't help. Concentrating on my grip didn't help (trying not to "limp wrist" the gun.) The takedown lever broke in half one fine day rendering the gun useless. Taurus wouldn't send me a new one, they wanted me to send the gun in for repairs. Shipping the gun to them was more than the part cost me.

The gun was a good shooting gun when it was functioning.

Wish I had the same good fortune as the rest of you had with mine.

Also a on the single-stack PT-745SS version. It's an accurate .45 that vanishes into a smartcarry, being thinner than the other.

Reliable, too. I love it. I'd had Rangers in it...are the Taurus rounds better, do you think?

All it needs now is for a Lasermax to be made for it for any longer-range useage...

Hell yeah...just put a mil pro .40SW on hold, last one they had at Whittakers. These puppies sell out 1 day after delivery and i've been waiting for a month now.

I have a PT111 Pro that is the same basic gun as the PT145, but in 9mm and I would love to be able to pocket carry it, but I can't!

I carry a KelTec P-3AT most of the time and it does disapear in my pocket, but the PT111 Pro is huge next to the P-3AT and I have trouble just getting the Pro in and out of my pocket and it looks like I have a brick in my pocket when I can get it in there.

So how do you make it disapear in your pocket? Maybe I'm just too small!

threaded barrel for pt145?

I would love to put a silencer on a pt145 or 745, but I can't find anyone that makes them Anyone hear got a lead?
