Cranked the numbers once. The .50 BMG has only a hair more muzzle energy than the .577 T-Rex.
Try to find someone to fire a .50 BMG out of a more or less standard bolt action rifle weighing maybe 15 lbs and with no muzzle brake. It always amazes me to see that they have so many takers.
If you look at all the videos, one guy who shoots the rifle from the bench appears to black out for about a half a second after firing the shot.
