I want to attach a flashlight to my Mossberg 590A1 #51660 by adding a picatinny rail to the front of it and then mounting the flashlight in a 1 in picatinny scope ring. I want to mount it between the slide and the bayonet lug so that i can still run a bayonet if i want to.

I was looking at this option:
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=20919/Product/3_RAIL_PICATINNY_SHOTGUN_MOUNT

But i do not know the outside diameter of the magazine tube. Does anyone have experience with this product or know which one will fit my gun? Other recommendations/suggestions welcomed.

i bought a small picatinny rail and screwed it to the side of my existing forearm. i can run the light switch with my right thumb-bill

not at all. not that it matters, but i have the speedfeed forend. i used a dremel to drill the holes and shortened the screws a bit. used red loctite to secure the nuts. cant remember the brand of rail but they are plastic. ba

ps- i was fed up with not being able to find an affordable solution to the above problem.

Whats a forearm? edit: never mind i found out its the slide. No i was looking to mount it on the magazine tube.

I found a cheap plastic mount that had a single rail. I can't find it easily but I'm sure it's around. It works great and I used a 1" scope ring to mount my light.

I don't know why there aren't some inexpensive forearms with rails but to be honest I think I like it clamped on the mag tube.
