I am taking a look at current market share and potential for these two rounds.

How many of you have purchased an AR in one of the following calibers in the past YEAR?

How many plan on purchasing an AR in one of the following calibers in the next 2 years?

The poll is MULTIPLE CHOICE CAPABLE so you can choose "have 6.5 Grendel" and "will buy a 6.8 SPC" for example.

i have a bushmaster .223/5.56 ar that i bought within the last year. and i have owned another before that. i am having an upper spr built in .223/5.56 as well. and i do plan to pick up another 1 or 2 different style ar's before the 2 year mark. i will not buy an ar in the other two calibers though.

Have a 5.56mm and a 6.8mm. I'm considering buying a Grendel as well, though the cost of another uncommon round, more special mags, and (for the Grendel set up) a really good scope to round out the package slows me down.

Where's the option for:

Would buy a larger caliber conversion for hunting purposes if somebody offered one that is cheap to buy and cheap to shoot.

The Olyarms 243 wssm looks like a good idea.

I have a RRA middy I bought 5 months ago in 223 and love it. I also completed my 9mm last night. I have been tempted by the 6.8 but w/ the recent spike in ammo cost makes me hesitant in investing in another caliber.

I have a few

I have 2 .223 ARs and 2 Grendels. I also plan on buying a few stripped lowers, a 16" Grendel upper, and I would love to get a 308 or 260 AR10, budget permitting of course.

I have 3 AR platforms. 1 super accurate DCM full-sized rifle, 1 m4-gery and a 9mm carbine. The .223 cartridge is fine for what it is in a combat sense...a relatively short ranged man-sized-target-at-best cartridge. The AR platform is wonderfully modular and ergonomic. In my non-combat usage, it has been one of my most reliable rifles (and yes I have and do own HKs, FALs, M1As)

To reach out and touch something, though, within the same sized rifle platform, the 6.5 Grendel seems like it has the best legs.

Interesting results so far. I know of two people who have both the 6.5 Grendle and the 6.8 SPC...I guess neither has voted yet.

Owning all three, what is your opinion on the three?

Do you use each cartridge for a different purpose?

Interesting results so far with more people interested in future purchases of 6.5 Grendels and 6.8 SPCs than the .223/5.56!

More currently own a .223/5.56 but the other two cartridges are relatively new. Maybe 10 years down the road 6.8 and 6.5 will be more common than 5.56 in civilian purchases. (It does make sense as you can't hunt medium game with .223/5.56 in most states)

Buying My First AR

I've never had need to own my own AR (If it's not a Sig I'm a cheapskate). I want to get my own this year, as Financially I'm set now. I am thinking about a DPMS and just getting a few different uppers, giving me a few different guns.

I would like to get a total of
5.56
6.8
6.5Grendel
.458Socom or the .50 Beauwolf (sorry it's been a long time since world lit).

Just my .02cents

I have a 5.56 AR carbine. I'll be building another 5.56 rifle this year, probably in a 24" bull barrel, 1 in 8 twist configuration. I figure that I can find heavy grain match pills for 5.56 much easier than for 6.5 Grendel and my 6.8SPC needs are met by 7.62x39.
When I'll see either 6.5 or 6.8 being sold for less than $0.50/round, I'll start thinking about it. Worst comes to worst, I'll just spend the money and get a .308 AR. :D
