Hello gents, i spent the last year working on a cartridge design to duplicate 257 roy performance in a 6.5 mm. Bored out an mgm encore barrel to accomodate the 6.5x65 rws case. I fireform to blow the shoulders out to .462 with the 30 degree angle of the creedmoor. All that is easy, load development was the hard part. I tried 7828, rl22, h4831, win 760, and rl-17. All started giving me primer squashing at around 3,400 fps with 100 gr ttsx. I had just about given up on higher velocity til i tried h100v. Now, i feel like i have something different.
60 gr h100v
Cci br-2 primer
100 gr ttsx
3,602 fps avg 3 shot 26" barrel
I figure it runs about 65 k on pressure. Primers just barely cratering. Now, i hope i can hit something with it. I built this rifle for deer hunting, so not worried about .2 moa, but those monolithic bullets like the speed for shrooming!

Yeah, not worried about it. Ive shot it about 150 times figuring things out, but i figure if your you build something that will do it, your gonna have the torch.

Its similar to rich shermans 6.5, but i tried to keep the case pressure down by reducing the shoulder angle. I wanted to neck down a 270 roy, but lots of stress on the encore action doing that.

Most of the encore builders wont even touch an encore chamber over .5 base diameter. Thats why i went with the "06" style case. Plus i wanted a 26" barrel in a shorter profile rifle.
