7.5 Swiss straight pulls

After reading this thread, I had to go out today and run 40 rounds through one of my K31s. Nothing noteworthy about it, but these boards often remind me of various guns I own that are being neglected.

Advantages: Perhaps the best trigger pull of any military rifle ever made.

An extremely accurate rifle with top notch workmanship.

Disadvantages: A delicate action subject to stoppages when contaminated with dirt.

An extemely fragile operating handle. I have seen many of them with bent charging handles due to them being dropped.

Although the straight pull design was invented to be faster than the military bolt guns of the day they actually proved to be more difficult and slower to operate quickly than the 98 Mauser that curiously enough was never noted for a particularly smooth bolt throw but was still faster to operate than the K31 or its predecessors.

Buy not one but several now before they are gone forever , they formerly sold for as high as $450.00 a piece before the current import wave.

Beware! Ammo in boxer primed cases has always been scarce and expensive. If you find boxer primed ammo or cases buy them while you can still get them or stock up on as much berdan primed ammo as possible while it to is still availalbe. If your smart avoid all the corrosive stuff. This rifle is too nice to ruin by shooting garbage ammo though it.

Well, I'd have to say that now is the time to stock up on ammo, too.

Not only is there the steady trickle of Norma and surplus Swiss fodder, but there's a buttload of reloadable FNM non-corrosive FMJ ammo @ $10-$13/box on the market right now...

What is FNM ? Is that a brand name ?

It's that Portagee commercial stuff everybody's been selling recently. Picked up a box or two at each of the last few gun shows for $12.95/ea. Probably available cheaper if you search online and/or buy in bulk.

That is some very good ammo. Very accurate. And, it is about $15/60 less than what I have been paying for it.
